Gary Condit accused of lying during trial for man convicted of murdering his former lover Chandra Levy
A lawyer for a man convicted of killing Washington intern Chandra Levy said on Friday that former California Congressman Gary Condit, who was romantically linked to Levy, misled the jury when he testified during the man's trial.
Ingmar Guandique's attorney Eugene Ohm made the allegation during a court hearing ahead of Guandique's scheduled March re-trial.
Ohm said that notes of an interview that authorities did with Condit after Levy's disappearance show that Condit, a Democrat who served in Congress from 1989 to 2003, misled the jury when he testified in 2010.

Definitely. I was very involved in the summer of 2001 Condidit threads. He was most definitely the happiest man in America on 9/11.
His timeline was a lie, and he was starting to visibly sweat bullets. It was all closing in on him when Mohamed Atta and friends booted him right off those front pages.
I thought it was Scarborough he was friends with.
Condidit was buddy buddy with Kasich; they were often seen in the lunchroom or commissary sitting along at a table and laughing too loudly. They partied together and went to rock concerts together. Condit apparently liked rough and group sex, and threesomes with another dude. Was Kasich one of his partners??
There was talk of wild sex parties in DC with prominent people, like Condit, Kasich, and Speaker of the House Denny Hastert. Just this last year we found out Hastert is a pedophile who likes little boys and was being blackmailed. Maybe that talk was legit.
Because the second Condit was connected with Chandra on the news, Kasich flew like a bat out of hell from DC, married, and immediately had twins. Why would the son of a mailman behave with such haste?
No, she hadn’t sent it to the cleaners yet, and Linda Tripp advised her to save it as it might save her life one day. Which it did.

Condit withheld information from police and diverted the investigation when she went missing. Valuable time was lost so this popular Californian could downplay his association with Ms. Levy.
A married man who is also a democRAT, having an affair with an intern...where have we heard that story before?
He was evasive, bordering on obstruction, during the investigation of her disappearance. Leads one to believe that he knew more than what he saying. Again, where have we heard that story before?
Both victims were relatively naive small town people who came to Washington, got involved closely with powerful Democratic politicians, and were about to go back to where they came from with lots of stories to tell.
Both were likely lured to their deaths on the pretext that they were going to engage in activities that would be enjoyable or beneficial, then ambushed by a hired goon or goons.
And both bodies were found in parks under the law enforcement jurisdiction of the U. S. Park Police.
Can anyone comment on the relationship (if any) between Condit and the Clintons? I have never been able to find anything on this, yet it may be relevant here.

Sorry, I remember nothing more than names, party affiliation of Condit,murder in the park, non-white arrested and charged. At the time might have crossed the mind similar to VF, but only in passing, ummmm?; and nothing more searched or found. Perhaps the last outstanding attorney, Perry Mason, should be called into the case. He always gets his man. :-)) It would be interesting detective work to find any similarities and connections, if any.
During this time of he Chandra Levy story I had always wondered why the Dems attacked him too? He was a dem after all......then I found out he voted with the GOPe most the time. That answered my question.
I don’t think he killed her either. Fall guy and take him out of congress.
I doubt that I have much to contribute but I seem to remember that Levy had left her house without her purse and her phone, and I’m sorry but as as woman we never do that.
And wasn’t Foster’s death ruled a suicide? Although I admit that never seemed very plausible. Was there ever any reason given why he would kill himself? And not leave a note or some explanation for his family? I’m assuming he had a family of some sort.

Gary Condit’s a democrat... he lied the press covered for him as best they could.
Levy had confided in only one person about her affair with Condit. Her aunt. Levy was so in love with him. She told the aunt that Condit was always terrified of getting caught so told her never to bring any ID or phone with her when she was going to meet him. They had rules for everything, traveling separately, what she was supposed to do when leaving his building, he only took her in public in out of the way places dressed casually with a baseball cap pulled low. He even gave her a card with a number on it for her to call if he ever had medical trouble during. Don’t call the police; call this guy.
Condit wasn’t giving her clear signals about where their affair was going. Levy’s internship was coming to an end. She was pressing him to let her know what would happen when she went back to CA. She was growing desperate and crying to her aunt. Condit’s wife unexpectedly showed up in DC so she had even less access to him. He wasn’t answering her pages.
Then Levy called her aunt and left a message, not long before she disappeared. She said she had great news, call back!! The aunt was busy and didn’t get back to her right away, for which she has been heartbreakingly sorry. Chandra was packed and ready to head back to CA. She googled maps to rock creek park. Then she left her apartment, carefully leaving behind all her ID, in jogging gear.
Quite clearly, she was being told something she wanted to hear, which motivated her to go to a less observed section of the park. I imagine Condit himself called and arranged a meeting and told her something she wanted to hear, like perhaps he was leaving his wife, or a way they could keep their relationship going. They had to meet in secret to discuss it.
Condit’s timeline did not account for the hours that afternoon. While I doubt he did the deed himself, he probably was the catalyst, maybe he did meet her so she felt safe, then extricated himself and someone else moved in. Maybe she was to meet someone who was going to take her to him, and that’s how it was done. But Condit lied on his timeline and put up an alibi which had happened the previous day or something. So he was probably there for part of it.
And what could be more telling than Condit’s reaction after she disappeared? Naturally her aunt told the Levys about the affair, and when they called Condit (in his CA office) to ask what he knew, he was “surprised” his friend whom he was advising on her career (ahem) was missing. He suggested that surely must have taken the train home instead of flying. Why, that takes days, she will be home soon... And he promised on his way to the airport back to DC, to immediately get the DC police to open a missing persons case when officially it was still too soon, as soon as he Landed. Which he did not do for days, if I recall correctly.
And everything he did after that looked so suspicious.
One of his other paramours, a flight attendant who hooked up with him whenever she was in town, was expecting to see him, and saw on her hotel tv that this intern had disappeared and they flashed her married congressman boyfriend’s picture up on the screen as maybe being connected. So she calls his pager a few times.
On that day, Condit was missing more votes in Congress than he had ever missed in all his time in DC. He had missed very few. He apparently was deep in the VA mountains. Not deep enough not to see these pages coming through from the flight attendant and get spooked about her “talking.” So he found a lonely McDonalds in the middle of nowhere and called her back from it.
She asked him if it were true, was he involved in this girl’s disappearance? She remembers being quite concerned, but she said he was very convincing and by the end of the call had assured her he knew Chandra but was not involved in any way, but needed to lay low a while.
When authorities checked her phone and found Condit on a busy congressional day inexplicably in a deep remote section of VA (because of that Mickey d’s call), that also looked mighty strange. Then he started getting rid of evidence in those weird ways.
The guy had motive and means.

It has been a long time and I don’t remember all the particulars now.
It was his body language as much as anything that caused me to doubt him. Then there were the inconsistencies that I seem to recall. If he wasn’t guilty, he sure acted that part.

I’ve not heard of a connection. You do touch on some interesting posts though. The Park Service police, assigning a guy to Foster’s case when it was his very first homicide investigation?
Tell me the FBI and CIA that hijacked the TWA-800 investigations doesn’t get involved with a case like Foster’s.
That death and the subsequent investigations were crimes in and of themselves IMO.
