Eleanor Darragh, mother of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 97% , was born in Delaware on Nov. 23, 1934, establishing her citizenship by birth-and, according to U.S. law, that of her son, even though he was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on Dec. 22, 1970.

The Cruz for President campaign provided Breitbart News exclusively with the birth certificate.

Trump is obviously making a deal out of this in order to whittle away at Cruz’s support. And it’s a cheap shot, par for the course for Donny.

Because it’s the process that’s supposed to be followed on the birth of a child overseas if you intend them to have their citizenship validated.

Third generation American - perhaps that’s why it’s so important to me. My family immigrated at the end of the 1800’s legally, almost every male since then has served in the Armed Forces. We grew up very thankful for this country and aware of it’s constitution.

Yes, you and Mr. Trump are so charming that it must pain you to deal with people like Cruz. Now, that Trump-jumped-the-shark video was just horrible to Mr. Trump, who is so well known for his refined chivalrous behavior in all circumstance and situations, a true gentleman, he is. HA.

I don’t believe you have. You were just included with all the others because you deserved an answer from me and I only felt like typing all of that once.

In the 12 election, 60,000,000 million Americans lowered the bar as far as it could go, dug out the floor underneath it and went subterrainan when they traded integrity to vote for a guy that profits from BBQing the dead and dismembered babies his very own laws as Governor created.

So I wouldn’t get too excited about low bars over citizenship and birthplaces, Princess.

Trump only brought this up about four or five times before the press asked him about it. Trump has gone back and forth on this issue depending on whether it looked like he’d lose Iowa. He is, as he says, a winner, super smart, smarter than Einstein, and richer than all the Saudi princes.

It wasn’t an issue until Trump made it one.

There was and still are three states that have cases pending so keep lying and inform Alan Grayson of Florida that Trump quit.

CRUZ IS NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN “The definition of natural born citizen was well-known at the time of our Constitution’s adoption. The definition appears in the only book mentioned in the Constitution — The Law of Nations. Applying that definition today, Cruz is not a natural born citizen of the U.S., because he was born outside of the U.S. AND because one of his parents was not a U.S. citizen.

Cruz was a citizen at birth, thanks to a law passed by Congress and signed by the President, but that’s not the same as being a natural born citizen”.

Exactly right. "Natural born" citizen means no statue is required to confer citizenship, nor can any statue remove citizenship. The "natural born" criteria applies to one, and only one, public office--the Presidency of the United States. Our founders did not want any hint of divided loyalties--no matter how slight--to surround the POTUS.

Those who say Ted Cruz, a citizen by statue, is eligible for the Presidency are also saying Johnny Achmed born in Saudi Arabia of a Saudi father and an American mother (with dual citizenship for 45 years) is also eligible for the highest office in the United States.

Lol. Spoken like a true statist who believes SCOTUS is the law maker. No dipsh4t. Congress passed the Naturalization Act of 1790. This Supreme Court can not “interpret” that out of existence any more than they can interpret the second amendment out of existence.

Of course statists like yourself like courts that make new law out of thin air.

But unfortunately for you this court will not be doing that because all courts have recognized that when interpreting the Constitution they must give much deference to British Common Law and enactments of the First Congress.

Both define natural born citizen in a way that Cruz is a citizen at birth, natural born.

Understand moron?

“Here’s an easy question for you:

If Trump gets the nomination, are you going to vote for him or stay home?”

************

Since TX will vote for whomever has an R next to their name I’m not worried one way or the other. Now if Trump is the candidate that’s not to say I won’t still write in someone else. Mickey Mouse would be comparable. He’s about as much a Conservative as Donald Trump.

Trump was only trying to help

Trump was helping himself but the issue was already out there and you know it was going to be a big issue sooner or later, it is the commie way.

Posted in 2009. Re-posting here because of relevance. (not an easy read)

There is a very interesting article in the Boston Law Review (2005), entitled:
NATURAL BORN IN THE USA: THE
STRIKING UNFAIRNESS AND DANGEROUS
AMBIGUITY OF THE CONSTITUTIONS PRESIDENTIAL
QUALIFICATIONS CLAUSE AND
WHY WE NEED TO FIX IT
Basically it argues in favor of changing the NBC clause. While Im not in total agreement with all the conclusions it makes, it does offer strong arguments as to why this issue needs to be addressed.
