Donald Trump says Ted Cruz’s Canadian birth “could be a difficult problem” for 2016 bid

In August 2013, The Dallas Morning News reported that the circumstances of his birth made him both a Canadian and an American. The dual citizenship came as a surprise to Cruz and his parents, and the senator quickly vowed to shed his Canadian citizenship. That became official last June.

For Trump, that’s not yet good enough if Cruz wants to run for and become president.

Um...if you actually read the article you see that it’s actually just more of the same. Trump isn’t claiming that Cruz is ineligible. He’s saying that it’s a liability for Cruz and he should get it settled decisively. I.e., the same thing that has been said on a hundred different articles on a hundred other threads.

There’s nothing to put up! A reporter asked him a question. he answered it. It’s a viable answer. Just because it’s not favorable to your prefereed candidate doesn’t mean you need to get hellbent on Trump.

It’s Cruz’s problem to clear up, because no matter if Trump said it or not, it WILL be brought by Dems, and at a very inconvenient time!!!

The Naturalization Act clearly states the standard for a naturally born citizen is a citizen, even in a foreign country, with a father that at least has residency in America.

No "Act" of man can define what is in the domain of Nature. It is as silly as suggesting the word "Arms" as used in the second amendment, can be defined to mean something else by an act of congress. No it can't.

Yeah, that means Vietnam, Thailand, and other places where US men have had hookers and they gave birth is full of US citizen children. Magic they are citizens!

That never made sense. And the only difference being if a mom went down and got a form from the embassy. Odd way of creating US citizens around the world.

This is unrelated but... if a child is born to illegal immigrants within the USA is automatically a citizen, then I have two questions: (a) what does Section 1401’s “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” mean?, and (b) why is Section 1401(b) necessary at all since it is talking about Indians, etc... born within the USA....?

Sure looks that way.

He was on some talk show recently where he claimed that Cruz copied Trump's idea to "build a wall." And in the same interview he claimed that Cruz and Rubio are fighting over who is more in favor of amnesty.

The guy is nuts.

So what you're saying here is that Trump is running to win the nomination but lose the general election. How so? Because a Republican NEVER wins the White House by killing off the other Republicans. They can win the primary that way, but it won't end up in the Oval.

Republicans only win the White House when the focus of their PRIMARY campaign is the Democrats. Period. And there is one candidate who is more or less sticking to that tactic, and he's surging.

Either way, this is a guaranteed loser in the General to do it this way.

You are posting a statute. Statutes do not define what is in the province of natural law.

Natural US citizenship is a consequence of natural law as outlined by the document which created US Citizenship, the Declaration of Independence.

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Various Supreme Court decisions of the time (such as "The Venus", or "Inglis v. Trustees of Sailor's Snug Harbor " explicitly refer to citizenship as having began on July 4, 1776. All born prior to that date were British Subjects, all born subsequent to that date to an American Father were Natural born citizens.

Stop buying into the GOPe hysteria. Of course Trump can and will win the general election. He is everything the GOPe has been hoping for, a candidate with broad appeal across party lines. He wins in every demographic. He’s the big tent guy. He will roll over Hillary Clinton like she’s not there.

There is a reason why Ted Cruz is polling nationally at 13%-18%. Killing off Cruz who most republicans don’t want anyway is going to have zero effect on republican turnout.

I can always tell when you have no argument as you resort to insults. Insults don’t counter my factual response to your inaccurate little theory about everybody sitting home if Trump kills off Cruz. Get real. As I said before most republicans don’t plan to vote for Cruz anyway or he would be polling much much higher.

At this point if you are still twiddling around believing Ted Cruz has much of a chance to win the GOP nomination polling at 18% you are foolish.

I let you off easy after the last debate because I felt kind of sorry for you but don’t look for me to be so magnanimous on election night 2016. :-)
