In August 2013, The Dallas Morning News reported that the circumstances of his birth made him both a Canadian and an American. The dual citizenship came as a surprise to Cruz and his parents, and the senator quickly vowed to shed his Canadian citizenship. That became official last June.
For Trump, thatâs not yet good enough if Cruz wants to run for and become president.

No worries, this morning he is defending Cruz against the Birther attack from McCain.
I’m really starting to think candidates need a mental evaluation.
The Naturalization Act clearly states the standard for a naturally born citizen is a citizen, even in a foreign country, with a father that at least has residency in America.
The Democrats will, of course, ignore this, and re-litigate this issue over and over if Cruz is nominated.
The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:
(a) a person born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof;
(b) a person born in the United States to a member of an Indian, Eskimo, Aleutian, or other aboriginal tribe:
Provided
, That the granting of citizenship under this subsection shall not in any manner impair or otherwise affect the right of such person to tribal or other property;
(c) a person born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents both of whom are citizens of the United States and one of whom has had a residence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions, prior to the birth of such person;
(d) a person born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is a citizen of the United States who has been physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for a continuous period of one year prior to the birth of such person, and the other of whom is a national, but not a citizen of the United States;
(e) a person born in an outlying possession of the United States of parents one of whom is a citizen of the United States who has been physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for a continuous period of one year at any time prior to the birth of such person;
(f) a person of unknown parentage found in the United States while under the age of five years, until shown, prior to his attaining the age of twenty-one years, not to have been born in the United States;
(g) a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years:
Provided
, That any periods of honorable service in the Armed Forces of the United States, or periods of employment with the United States Government or with an international organization as that term is defined in section 288 of title 22 by such citizen parent, or any periods during which such citizen parent is physically present abroad as the dependent unmarried son or daughter and a member of the household of a person (A) honorably serving with the Armed Forces of the United States, or (B) employed by the United States Government or an international organization as defined in section 288 of title 22, may be included in order to satisfy the physical-presence requirement of this paragraph. This proviso shall be applicable to persons born on or after December 24, 1952, to the same extent as if it had become effective in its present form on that date; and
(h) a person born before noon (Eastern Standard Time) May 24, 1934, outside the limits and jurisdiction of the United States of an alien father and a mother who is a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, had resided in the United States.
It's the rare double flip-flop.
Breitbart says that Trump should go ahead and file a lawsuit if he thinks it’s an issue. I agree. Put up or shut up.
Folks..the name of the game is to WIN. Trump is using tactics to WIN!! Nobody remembers the losers...no matter if they lost ‘unfairly’ or not.
I believe that’s correctly referred to as a “flip-flop-flip”...
Does Trump consider Cruz to be a legitimate threat to his candidacy?
You are a tool. So what if he brought it up a year ago. It was before he officially announced his candidacy. Trump was asked the question and said that it was Cruz’s problem to do deal with. I don’t recall Trump being Cruz’s spokesman so Trump said exactly what was supposed to be said.
if you don’t like what Donald Trump thinks about an issue, wait a minute.....
“Breitbart says that Trump should go ahead and file a lawsuit if he thinks itâs an issue. I agree. Put up or shut up.”
Trump never said HE has an issue with it. He said that it would be brought up by the Dems down the road as an October surprise should Cruz the the nominee. Not the time for that stuff to come out. It’s to Cruz’s benefit that this is being discussed now and aired out, and settled by the time Oct/Nov come around.
Please, for our country’s sake, do some research and in depth reading before taking headlines at face value.
YES, he does.....not panicking, but yes, he sees a threat.
It’s the Cruz or Losers are who say Trump is bringing it up now because he’s “panicking”. So you just disproved that meme. It makes perfect sense that Trump wouldn’t spend much time talking about it when Cruz was at 6%. Now he’s being asked about Cruz, so he’s mentioning that it would be an issue if he won the nomination. Which it would because some officials in Democrat states would probably try to leave him off the ballot as ineligible. Then Cruz would have to sue to be put on, and that could drag on through the election and beyond. If you don’t think they would do it, think about Gore v. Bush in 2000.
Trump, as a candidate has standing. He has been bringing up the issue since early 2015. Let him put up or shut up. No doubt Alan Grayson will file a lawsuit, and just like the others that have already been filed against Cruz, Rubio, and Jindal, it will be dismissed.
LOL
That and the religion innuendos seem to have failed Trump.
Serious voters should be thinking about judges.
Also they should pay enough attention to realize as I have that Trump has no more knowledge, depth on issues than your neighbor on the corner. His reactions - left Russia handle it, and his latest on NK - let someone else fix it, not good enough.
McCain thinks that Cruz came out of a Canada Dry can in some alley in Toronto.
