Here's Why Shares of Gunmaker Smith & Wesson Are Jumping

The stock is up 6% premarket.

Gunmaker Smith & Wesson SWHC 12.11% is projecting an incredible start to 2016, which sent shares up more than 6% in premarket trading.

The company raised its revenue and earnings guidance for the current quarter and fiscal year, based on strong sales at recent gun shows as well as an uptick in year-end FBI background checks, an indicator that potential customers are looking to obtain gun licenses.

Smith & Wesson now expects sales between $175 million and $180 million from $150 million to $155 million for its third and present quarter, which ends Jan. 31. The company also boosted its adjusted earnings outlook, raising its estimate to between 39 cents and 41 cents from 27 cents and 29 cents for the same quarter.

The optimistic guidance improved Smith & Wesson's already bright prospects for the fiscal year, which ends April 30. The company expects revenue between $650 million and $660 million, up from its earlier projection of between $625 million and $635 million. The company also raised its expected adjusted earnings to between $1.36 and $1.41 per share from between $1.26 and $1.31 per share.

Smith & Wesson's revised guidance comes on the heels of President Barack Obama's intention to tighten gun control laws.

One of the finest revolvers ever built, and that three inch barrel is the perfect fit.

Model and caliber of that weapon please?

I’m becoming more interested in the S&W 45 revolver than can also load 410 shot shells. But, if your photo is of a “smaller” caliber, it might make sense to me.

The 45 was kinda pricey last time I was window-shopping at Cabela’s. Since Obamugabe is moving on his 2nd Amendment nullification efforts, I may just spring for that “higher” cost this week.

Yes, excellent side arm and I have recommended that revolver to friends as a first firearm for beginning shooters and self-protection.

It’s a 317, alloy frame .22.

In 1957 Smith went to model numbers, and their .22 K frame was the Model 17. A 3 prefix means alloy, such as the 329 which is an alloy frame .44.

What is MSRP?

I’m still heavily considering their 45/410 revolver. That and the Judge 45/410.

I’ll need some wicked information to convince the wife of my purchase and then, even more wicked info to get her to practice/shoot it.

Obama did not sign Illinois’ candidate loyalty oath in 2012

Monday, January 04, 2016 at 11:16 AM

SPRINGFIELD - When President Barack Obama submitted petition signatures to get on the 2012 Democratic primary ballot, he chose not to sign Illinois’ optional candidate loyalty oath that officially assured voters he did not teach or advocate the overthrow of the U.S. government.

It may not be a big deal to most Democrat or Republican voters four years later, but it might matter to some that the president did not find it necessary to assure Illinoisans that he was not working with America’s enemies.

The state’s loyalty oath, which was mandatory for all Illinois candidates until the 1969, says:

I, (candidate’s name), do swear (or affirm) that I am a citizen of the United States and the State of (candidate’s state), that I am not affiliated directly or indirectly with any communist organization or any community front organization, or any foreigh political agency, party, organization or government which advocates the overthrow of constitutional government by force or other means not permitted under the Constitution of the United States or the Constitution of this State; that I do not directly or indirectly teach or advocate the overthrow of government of the United States or any unlawful change in the form of the governments thereof by force or any unlawful means.

That year, Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum signed the vow when they filed for candidacy in Illinois.
