With the presidential primaries in full swing, Donald Trump maintains his sizable lead over the rest of the Republican field. Among Republican or Republican-leaning registered voters, Trump has 35% support compared to 18% for Ted Cruz and 13% for Marco Rubio, according to results from the latest NBC News SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking Poll for the week of December 28, 2015 through January 3, 2016. The poll was conducted online among a national sample of 3,700 adults aged 18 and over.

Trump leads among men with 39% of support, compared to 21% of men who support Cruz and 13% of men who support Rubio. Trump also leads among women with 29% support, while Cruz and Rubio have about equal support from women--13% and 14%, respectively.

Perhaps surprisingly, Trump also has the highest support among white evangelical voters--33%.

Typo in the title.

[Trump 35% Cruz 18% Rubio 23%]

Trump has 35% support compared to 18% for Ted Cruz and 13% for Marco Rubio,...

Scared me there for a second.

Secret Rubio supporter? What to give Cruziacs a heart attack with the headline? Maybe an Admin Moderator can fix it.

“Surging Ted” is beating the lap and can almost see Trump from where he sits in this one.

Online (Internet) poll, self-selecting participants, poll of self-described “adults”. This poll has no controls and can’t even calculate an MOE. In other words, basically useless for anything other than mental masturbation...

Cruz 18% + Rubio 13% = 31%

Trump = 35%

Cruz 18% + Rubio 13% = 31%

I give Cruz +1% from Rubio dropping out, but +10% from Carson dropping out.

That's why these national polls are so misleading.

There are three lanes:

Populist: Trump
Conservative: Cruz, Carson, Huckabee, Santorum
Establishment: Rubio, Bush, Christie, Kasich

Trump is the second choice of Cruz supporters, so that doesn't help him.

Cruz is the second choice for Trump supporters, which doesn't help him, but also the second choice for the other conservatives.

The RINO vote will probably be divided evenly between Trump and Cruz.

By this point in 2011-2012, Romney was well in the lead. He easily survived the 2-week Newt nudge and brief Santorum surge after he won Iowa. Even if Cruz edges Trump in Iowa, The Donald is in good shape.

You think Cruz will get 100% of the Carson folks?

The most interesting part of the poll was that Trump leads with evangelicals. Bad news for Teddy.

Pretty much. It’s the Christian conservative constituency. Trump’s ridicule of Carson only further diminishes what little chance he had of attracting Carson supporters.
