Erdogan: 'Turkey needs Israel'

Turkey must accept that it needs Israel, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday, as the two countries seek to thrash out a deal on normalizing ties.

NATO member Turkey was a key regional ally of Israel until the two countries fell out over the deadly storming by Israeli commandos in 2010 of a Turkish aid ship, the Mavi Marmara, bound for Gaza.

AFP reports that Erdogan further raised hackles in Israel with his sometimes inflammatory rhetoric towards the Jewish State. But the atmosphere has transformed following the revelation last month the two sides were making progress in secret talks to seek a rapprochement, he says.

"Israel is in need of a country like Turkey in the region," Erdogan said in remarks to Turkish reporters published in leading dailies Saturday.

"And we too must accept that we need Israel. This is a reality in the region," said Erdogan.

A country like Turkey, that allows DAESH troops to pass through it like a seive? More accurate, Israel needs a country like Turkey used to be in the region. It's unavailable. Erdogan's Turkey is not it. F off and play with yer little friend. Good bye.

The headline leaves out where he said Israel needs Turkey.
Maybe the baloney quota was breached.

That must have been hard to say. I wonder what pressures have resulted in that turnaround.

This smells like Obama’s MO. Reapproachment in exchange for forgetting about the terrorist ship attack. Trying to stick Russia’s nose in it.

Not going to to work.

He says that Israel needs a country like Turkey in the region. We’re all caught up on rainwater, thank you. No more need for bulk sales. As for countries that are in bed with terrorists and nutso Islamic? Plenty others available. We really don’t need them, either.

With “Taqquia” (sp ?) as a major tenant of islam any deals made with Turkey are ephemeral at best.

This guy sounds about as rational as Muammar Gaddafi. May he end with the same fate.

Well, he needs some nearby Jews to hate. If the Turks complain that Erdogan is a tyrant who should be destroyed, he can reply, “Destroy the Jews, first!”

Greater Kurdistan will need his Kurdish regions. Syria, Iraq and Iran’s, too. Two peoples, two states. Russia, of course, is exempt because...? Oh, yeah. They’re really big and don’t give a good sh!t what anyone thinks of them.

Hmmmmm.

Cue up the Greek millet.
And the Armenians.

I think they’ll have a different vision of what Turkey ‘needs.’

Thanks Eleutheria5.
Turkey must accept that it needs Israel, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday, as the two countries seek to thrash out a deal on normalizing ties... Turkey was a key regional ally of Israel until [Turkey hosted and helped bankroll] the Mavi Marmara [fake blockade runner], bound for Gaza... Erdogan further raised hackles in Israel with his sometimes [always] inflammatory rhetoric towards the Jewish State... "Israel is in need of a country like Turkey in the region," Erdogan said... Saturday. "And we too must accept that we need Israel. This is a reality in the region," said Erdogan.
It's now a matter of time that Erdogan's going to be capped by some jihadist, and whomever succeeds Erdogan will make these look like the good old days.

Turkey and Israel have a common enemy—and it is not ISIS. It is the Shiite axis of Iran/Iraq/Syria.

Saudi is also anti-Iran, and is rumored to support ISIS for the same reasons, making its talk about an anti-ISIS coalition extremely questionable.

The positions of these U.S. allies make an all-out war against ISIS difficult given the current vacuum of leadership in Washington.

More like trying to keep Israel out of the arms of Russia, which would be an abject disaster for our intelligence services.

TurdO is some piece of CRAP

Russia just caught him black market buying ISIS oil.

Turdo kills the good guys The Kurds and doesn’t go after ISIS.

Turdo enjoyed making sport of Israel for many years, and supports Hamas, Hezzbollah and the PLO.

Turdo is a Holocaust Denier.

I don’t see why Nato keeps him around, Turkey is unreliable, won’t let Nato use its Turkish bases.

Putin is squeezing Turdo, because he shot down Russia’s planes. Putin disputes Turdo that the planes never were in Turkish airspace. Who is more believable Putin of Turdo.

Israel should tell Turdo to stuff it.

Yeah, "abject disaster" barely covers that scenario. Israel was our defense partner in working around the old ABM Treaty and knows quite a bit about our missile defense systems.

I don't believe that Israel really wants to abandon us for Russia, but they are pragmatic. So much hinges on the November election that the LIV crowd will never perceive.
