She probably writes for them or is a friend of someone who does. In a former life, I started out majoring in journalism before I got into a major which would actually land me a real job.
During that time, I went into town and all over campus to interview people I'd never otherwise meet to get real news stories. I noticed most of my colleague managed to get stories published with little to none of that effort.
It finally dawned on me one day: While I was going out and practicing actual old school journalism as taught in class, they were hanging around and planning their next weekend to get drunk, laid or both. While I was ferreting out real actual news sources, they were "networking" with each other.
