The UK is bucking the trend of Europe's falling fertility rates with a significant rise in the number of births per woman over recent years.
Women in the UK are giving birth at an average rate of 1.9 children each, significantly higher than other major European nations like Germany.
The figure - which rose by 12% between 2003 and 2013 - ranks Britain third in the EU by fertility rate after France and Ireland.
Some experts say migration has bolstered what would otherwise be declining rates of childbirth, as British-born women are having fewer children or delaying starting a family until later in life.

I suspect the whole declining fertility thing falls into a category of junk science like global warming. It would be blamed on global warming if the left wasn’t invested in importing Muslims to rape European women. ...The real blame, as I imagine it, is a steady diet of processed foods, and sugars. The men are getting fatty balls and tired prostates. All those healthy young Muslims come in, and prove that the women are still breedable, while European men watch politically correct porn.
Of course it could be that we’ve gone from having children in our teens to having children in our late thirties. That has to raise havoc on fertility rates. Kick the Muslims out, and breed earlier.
