Can Trump’s Clinton-Sex-Scandal Revival Hurt Hillary?
nymag.com ^ | Margaret Hartmann

This week Donald Trump pulled off yet another remarkable political feat: While several of his rivals have tried and failed to turn Bill Clinton's decades-old sex scandals into a 2016 campaign issue, Trump is actually making it happen. After his complaint about Hillary calling him "ISIS's best recruiter" morphed into a debate about sexism just before Christmas, Trump changed the conversation again, tweeting on Monday "If Hillary thinks she can unleash her husband, with his terrible record of women abuse, while playing the women's card on me, she's wrong!" Tuesday on the Today show, he added, "there certainly were a lot of abuse of women, you look at whether it's Monica Lewinsky or Paula Jones, or any of them, and that certainly will be fair game."

Now with the former president set to begin campaigning for his wife in New Hampshire on Monday, other Republican candidates, including Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson, are joining in the discussion of Clinton's past sexual improprieties. The question now is whether their attacks on Bill Clinton can damage his wife's campaign, while years ago they only boosted the first lady's popularity.

*snip*

A Wall Street Journal opinion piece echoed her [Ruth Marcus in WaPo] point, saying President Clinton "was a genuine sexual harasser in the classic definition of exploiting his power as a workplace superior, and the Clinton entourage worked hard to smear and discredit his many women accusers." It goes on to recount how Clinton adviser Sidney Blumenthal, who remains a friend of the couple, smeared Monica Lewinsky, and says this reflects on the "standards that would prevail in another Clinton Presidency."

He's older now, more vulnerable

Especially with younger voters. They don't remember much about Clinton's Presidency, but they do remember hillary's disaster as Secretary of State

And the hipsters couldn't care less about Her record at State. All they know is what they've been told all their lives by teachers and their media idols: "Democrats Good, Republicans DIE!!"

None of these brats remember what we remember. Travelgate, Chinagate, Vince Foster, Ron Brown, Whitewater - but ask them about Chimpy McHitler, and they'll respond with dry heaves of hate.

Anyone that was in grade school in the 90s remembers all the disgusting talk about the president of the United States and oral sex in the White House from a 21 years old intern. They remember asking their parents what it was all about. The parents damn sure remember it, as good as the young, impressionable children. Clinton and his wife (her for smearing the accusers and attempting to destroy their lives), like no president before him. Richard Nixon was George Washington compared to this puggy, draft-dodgering frat boy. And what’s sad about the entire ordeal with this worthless POS is his sex crimes were known all over Arkansas and America was warmed and he was still elected president, because Ross Perot hated the Bushes.

It can’t help her - with Trump’s methodology, I’d say it puts some new tarnish on the old...

The RATS rant about the pubbie “war on women” is off the table. Don’t forget how she “stood by her man” after all the allegations surfaced and she she established “the bimbo eruptions unit”.

Trump is busy demolishing Clinton’s big talking point “Women! Vote for me, I am a woman too, I understand your problems”. Trump is cauterizing that attack line by pointing out Clinton’s real “War on Women”.

What ever one may think of Trump, the GOP should be grateful for how far to the GOP’s side he is pulling the Overton Window.

The Overton window, also known as the window of discourse, is the range of ideas the public will accept. It is used by media pundits.[1][2] The term is derived from its originator, Joseph P. Overton (1960–2003),[3] a former vice president of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy,[4] who in his description of his eponymous window claimed that an idea’s political viability depends mainly on whether it falls within the window, rather than on politicians’ individual preferences.[5] According to Overton’s description, his window includes a range of policies considered politically acceptable in the current climate of public opinion, which a politician can recommend without being considered too extreme to gain or keep public office

FWIW, a day or two ago, Cruz was asked about Trump bringing this up and he said "he wouldn't engage in innuendo". What is Cruz thinking? It ISN'T innuendo that hillary enabled Bill's very bad behavior as First Lady. She brought up the "I am woman" card, so it's on the table.

What is Cruz thinking? Saying this is "innuendo" is as bad as "what difference does it make"?, "nobody cares about hillary's emails", "the Benghazi committee is for political purposes" in that it trivializes an important issue about character and priorities.

I’m a Cruz supporter, but this tactic by Trump is brilliant.

The ONLY things Hillary brings to the table (in the minds of democrats) is that she’s a woman and she’s a Clinton.

Trump has effectively killed the so-called ‘War on Women’ tactic, and Bill-the-rapist had better stay in the shadows. She doesn’t have a record of achievements to show and her promises are all empty (as shown by her lies).

Hurt Hillary? You must be joking. Hillary and Leona have a lot in common. It is apparent to anyone that Hillary would endure any embarrassment to be president.

Trump is fun to follow because he doesn’t care whether Hillary gets ‘hurt’ by this as much as he cares about just bringing up things that damage the country, our culture and our collective memory

That our president was having perverted sex in the Oval Office while he was supposed to be working for the 400 G we pay him to take care of our country, our troops, his own family and our dignity is still completely unacceptable as he has never repented, apologist, much less, he lied about it, was adamant, and it was indicative of his behavior before and since and that no good wife of his could not have cared less, enabling him and abetting the destruction of the girl’s character, reputation and did the same regarding several other incidents

Trump is simply saying what we think. She can’t be running around pretending she cares about women’s rights

That’s all

Of course it will hurt her. But the 40% of women who adore her for her promise to make sure they continue the legal right to pul babies out and kill them by whatever means possible, they will continue their own enabling behavior

The nice thing is Trump is putting them aside, to the spot in society where they are not in charge of us any longer.

That would be nice :-) Sweet Justice. Bill does what he does, has a heart attack during, and proceeds to keel over his victim. He dies with his shoes on leaving behind his legacy.

USS Alaska, don't hold back, tell us what you really think ...

It was early and I didn't have my third cuppa joe, so I was exceptionally mellow and easy going on the bitch.

I have a visceral hate for both klintoons, but my animus for the kankled lesbo goes thousands of times past the bent one because he is mostly a sexual pervert and a small time grifter.

Without the puppet master, he'd have flamed out in Arkansas, chasing his skanky wife's lesbian lover.
