The owners of an Oregon bakery who denied service to a same-sex couple have paid more than $135,000 in state-ordered damages â months after refusing to do so â according to state officials Monday.
Aaron Klein, co-owner of Sweet Cakes, by Melissa, dropped a check off for $136,927.07, according to the Bureau of Labor and Industries. The payment includes interest. Klein also paid $7,000 earlier this month.
Damages were award in July for emotional suffering caused by the bakery which refused to make a wedding cake for Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer more than two years ago. The bakers said they refused to make the cake because of their religious beliefs.

The judge should be locked up.
Wasn’t there a fund set up for them?
Sad. America is no longer the land of the free.
Its fascism
This is a disgrace.
As should the couple. This is all based on their claim of “emotional distress”. BS. They’re just looking to punish someone for not approving of their perverted lifestyle.
Now, can they counter-sue for being forced to cater to people who wanted to make a public example out of them?
Every business has the right to refuse service to anyone. It’s in the first amendment—freedom of association.
The judge should be a sandwich between the gay guys kind of like the Kennedy/Dodd waitress sandwich as La Braisserie.
Did they get a jury trial?
The women filed complaints with the state and the state Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian awarded the damages.
This is not over they are appealing. There is a good chance that this is going to go to SCOTUS.
Judge?
It was a bureaucrat. Unelected, unaccountable.
As Mark Steyn has wisely pointed out, we don’t need a President-For-Life when we have a Bureaucracy-For-Life.
Apparently there is still an ongoing appeal.
From the article: “Tyler Smith, an attorney representing the Kleins, told The Oregonian that his clients have not abandoned their appeal of Avakian’s order. Smith said it was in their clients’ best interests to pay now rather than wait for the appeal date, which is slated for next year.”
I am aware they are appealing, but they did pay the money to avoid additional interest. What a travesty.
The Muzzies will sort out the Oregon fag-lovers...
Nothing more than greenmail to the radical left/LGBT lobby. Political correctness run amuck.
What you wanna bet It’s ok to refuse to serve non pervs? Isn’t this wonderful country?
