H-E-B grocers in Texas have put signage on their doors barring openly carried handguns, while Kroger says they will simply abide by the new law which will allow openly carried handguns, beginning January 1.

From Walmart. HEB is a bully company From Waco to South Texas as we have no other chain here.
I notice they are now targeting Houston area chains with lower prices.
Stay out of HEB stores as much as possible is my advice.

You are wrong.
Texas is a very strong property rights State.
The (older) "30.06" sign advises that anyone entering that property with a concealed weapon is trespassing.
The new "30.07" sign does the same for openly-carried weapons.
That is any property owner's right.
If the property owner is a business, the answer has already been posted here: Let free market economic forces sort it out.
It should soon become apparent if "gun friendly" businesses are profiting from their decisions (and vice versa). And, it should eventually become statistically evident if "gun friendly" businesses are safer re robberies, etc...

Furthermore, nothing about those signs says that the property owners must obey the restrictions.
And, as I understand it, property owners also can waive the restriction for those they deem to be "accepted armed guests". I do so now; family members who have demonstrated safe gun handling on my range are also invited to hunt on my ("posted") land. [I no longer hunt -- but, I eat well on the meat my guests share with me..] '-)
Heck, I might even consider posting the signs at the gates entering my own property -- right alongside my existing "No Trespassing" signs...
Why not give myself a slight tactical advantage -- and considerable legal advantage -- over would-be trespassers?
I will be armed; putting trespassers at a legal disadvantage for being armed seems to be all in my favor...
IMO, "30.06" and "30.07" signs are "good things"...

I am in the big middle of the Hill Country. With only the one store in town, they can be as sorry as they want and who’s to complain. When I’m in Austin and stop in a real grocery store, I stand around amazed and intimidated with all the nice pretty produce and varieties of shelf items. Wow, a deli! Wow, fresh bread! Wow, gouda cheese! Wow, more than just HCF and Purina brands of dog food! Wow, flavored potato chips!
When FR had those pictures of Venezuela’s empty stores, I nearly laughed because that’s almost the normal here. If there’s something we eat, I have to buy a dozen of it because it won’t be there the next shopping day, or the next, or the next. Good thing I cook from scratch and we eat simply but angel food cake isn’t worth the trouble. I got tired of never having bread so make it at home. Same with tortillas and potato chips. The last straw on tortillas was the day they didn’t have any but the manager said they’d be getting in 4 on the next truck (yeah, the infamous truck). I asked what exactly 4 meant - four cases or four packages? He said four 8 count packages, sigh..... Seriously? What’s the point of ordering 4 packages? A grand total of 32 tortillas! That also confirmed that we get cast offs and broken cases and so many dented cans. One employee admitted their bread comes in frozen aka old. So, yeah, bring on TEOTWAWKI because outside of no utilities (that’s another soapbox), we won’t know the difference.
No we go bat$h!t when a baker can not refuse to cater a homo fake wedding. Or a deli is forced to serve halal sandwiches, but then the property rights you claim to support only applies when it supports evil.
Never heard of HEB Pantry. I guess it’s a regular store but on the smaller side. It used to be about half that size but had more items back then. The problem is the manager/s and that we get seconds. People have complained for years on the HEB site but I don’t know of anyone getting a reply. Headquarters doesn’t care because it’s a retirement community and I suspect they rely on the summer tourists for their main profits. Little old ladies aren’t demanding and tourists aren’t return customers.
Looking at this week’s ad, guaranteed they won’t have half the front page. They might put out 4 packages of the sirloin steaks and maybe the hams though I never saw any during holidays. No way will they have the pork ribs, meatballs, crab legs or shrimp. The avocadoes won’t be on the truck and it’s a toss up if the black eyed peas and organic salad will be. Half the “buy this get something free” on page 2 won’t be there. Some of those brands aren’t carried here (tortillas, tamales, beans, hush puppies). The meal deal will not have that brand tortillas. Page 4 bakery and deli doesn’t exist. The Coke will be there but not the Dr. Pepper or the other varieties of soft drinks on sale. And so on.
Managers have come and gone for the past two decades and it’s always the same. San Antonio dumps their trash on us.
It is not about property it is about equal access.
Today it is about exercising your CIVIL RIGHT in a business open to the public.
Tomorrow employers will be able to refuse to hire those same people.
This is not a private event, this is an open super market. Open to the public.
It is a private business. They have the right to set the rules such as no shirt, no shoes, no service. Those who do not like it do not have to patronize the business. I would go elsewhere.
Unfortunately, the long arm of the government does not allow a private business to allow smoking if the patrons want it. As a non-smoker, I would no go there. But the should have the right. It is a bad product but it is still a legal product.
Last week, the cashier rang up 2 packs of cigarettes on my bill. I had a come to Jesus meeting with him. You always have to check your bill and make sure you get home with everything.
Oh, San Antonio.

Where do you live? Our HEB in Abilene has tons of selection, excellent meat and produce, good service, and decent prices. If your local HEB is that bad, you should write to their corporate offices- I’d bet money that they’d want to fix that, p.d.q.

The Constitution does not give you the" right to trespass" on private property (even if used for a public purpose) -- whether or not you are exercising your 2A rights at that time.
The restriction is on your (non-existent) "right to trespass" -- and not on your RTKBA.
