I do not know how atheist or communist IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE is, but ain’t an “uplifting Christmas film” to me. Hell, I find it down right depressing.
There are at least 10-15 better Christmas films, starting with IT HAPPENED ON FIFTH AVENUE.
The main reason I dislike that story is Potter never got his comeuppance. He got away with keeping that money. My best all favorite Christmas film is Christmas Carol with Alister Sim.
Why do you find the film depressing?
Your kidding right? It’s a wonderful life is a classic Americana film. Anyone trying to turn this movie into atheistic, communism or anything else has smoked one too many doobies in Denver. Quite frankly coming from a small town, it is the epitome of what happens when someone is in trouble. In Iowa you would see farmers helping other farmers crops be harvested if illness or accidents happened to them.
It’s a wonderful life has one message, and it maybe the most important message in life: you do the right thing whether you want to or not and you will be rewarded. Every life touches many others I ways you won’t ever know. Don’t squander it. It’s a wonderful life is my favorite movie.
If bored, feel free to pm me some good old movie suggestions. Watching “It happened on 5th avenue” now. Looks promising.
I don’t like it either. Got the other 9? Is there a movie that actually portrays how life will be under the rule of the baby born and sleeping in the manger? Now that is hope and joy!
I like The Bishop’s Wife, the original with David Niven and Carey Grant.
