D.C. REPUBLICANS Go Home For Holidays, Discover Trump Voters Are Real
politico.com ^ | December 26

Posted on 12/26/2015 9:15:11 PM PST by Helicondelta

A Republican Playbooker who lives in D.C. is back home in New Hampshire for the week: "Driving around the state's capital [Concord] (which is more heavily Democrat than Republican) ... you notice ... lots of visible support for Bernie: lawn signs and bumper stickers. There are signs of support for Hillary too, but Bernie appears to be winning the passion race, if nothing else. A smattering of Ben Carson signs placed only at busy intersections. More paid media from Right to Rise than anyone.

"I asked my folks, all longtime supporters of establishment Republicans, who they're backing: Trump. When you try to advocate for more traditional candidates, they dig in more for Trump (whose Christmas card is kept in a place of honor)."

You’re right and we wouldn’t be anywhere near talking about the issues we are. Trump totally changed this election cycle (I think for the better). Cruz wouldn’t be anywhere the top, not because he’s not a good candidate and his positives true, but he’s only where he is because Trump has so dominated the media and pummeled the establishment candidates, it’s given Cruz the opportunity to be seen and heard more.

‘You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have’.
Make no mistake, this is war.

Very well put.

And Indies or disenfranchised Dems? No chance. For Trump however, it’s a big tent.

Trump has become more than just a candidate. It is a movement. A peaceful revolution. A complete repudiation of POLITICIANS.

Ted may be more “conservative”, and had Trump not entered (and totally changed) the race, he would have won, but now we are done with them.

I feel exactly the same. Trump has become my way to say "scr*w you" to the Beltway Insiders Club.

‘However, most devout Ted Cruz and Rand Paul supporters that I know are coming unhinged and are down right mean about Trump’s success.’

So true!

I’m visiting to Pismo Beach, calif and the only political thing I’ve seen is a Bernie bumper sticker. Suprizingly, on the other side of the bumper from that was a Blue Lives Matter (cops) bumper sticker.

That’s better than the high speed train ;)

“However, it does make one consider just who would generate so much anger to voters to make them feel thus. Would this be their flaw or a particular flaw in the candidate? At the moment there is no answer to that particular question.”

I’ve been wondering that since the viciousness here against Trump supporters is fairly widespread. There are some personality types that, while appearing calm and rational, project irrational and disruptive feelings onto those around them as a way of getting rid of those unwanted emotions.

Trump cleared the path with a machete, taking all the arrows. Cruz just followed behind, tiptoeing in Trump’s footsteps. He allowed Trump to do the dirty work.

We need a leader willing to do what us necessary.

It is alarming the vitriol against Trump supporters but this entire election cycle is filled with chaos and disruption stemming from the lack of leadership of good, decent, honest men. In my warped mind the tendency to attempt to understand why and how we got from point A to B always lies just beneath the surface. That we have the won we do in office, we have seen nothing but disruption, dissatisfaction and discouragement. This has become the common factor in each of us. Because of one bad apple an entire countryside is filled with bad apples. Have no idea how much younger you might be.. 68 yo here, but years ago made in the late 60’s was a British movie called Quartermaster And the Pit -being released in America as 5 Million Years to Earth. Plot was: unearthed under the cobblestone streets of London (was found a space ship -presumably from Mars. The Martian inside, dead, looking like a giant grasshopper. The dead Martian had the evil power of causing chaos, violence of all humans around it. At the time it seemed silly, but after this election cycle it makes for a story line which might ring true. Our dark won = the dead Martian with grasshopper antenna.
In essence, after votes have been cast, winner instated, will we once again be able to put our differences aside and become what we once were. There are family members that we’ve not spoken to in 9 years. Will that change- or should it change. Life is full of questions but seldom gives us answers. Some are smart enough to find them. alas, I am still searching.

“...Enough of their crappola, and Trump sends baboso’s like Rubio, McLame, Cantor, McConnel and Ryan a simple message that enough is enough of their go along get along cause everyone be making money and to hell with ideology.

I am for Cruz but love seeing Trump throw monkey wrenches in everyone works.”
******************************************************************************
I agree. I wish that ALL Cruz’ supporters and ALL Trump supporters would be happy that we have TWO great non-GOPe candidates in the race sending the rest to the bottom into a pit of hopelessness. We, in effect, have an abundance of riches that we are not used to.

Conservatives should support their preferred candidate of the TWO and not feel compelled to wage war on the other.

There’s an old saying applied to people who have always been poor but when they get a little money spend it all as rapidly as possible...”THEY CAN’T STAND PROSPERITY”.

We have an abundance of non-monetary riches this election cycle and things are going our way. They’ll continue going our way through the general election unless WE destroy it. Let’s not lose our cool and blow it all up and end up “pissing it away”.

<< I’m in the South, am not an evangelical and I am a Cruz supporter. So is my husband. I actually only know one couple who are Trump supporters. >> *****

I appreciate your point. I should have better emphasized that the victory typically comes for a Republican nominee from broader support beyond the evangelical focused Cruz campaign, tailored for the South.

Because TRUMP is right on the issues of Life, Liberty and Religious Freedom, evangelicals are easily able to support him, which is why he is also doing fine in the South among them. And, TRUMP speaks in declarative sentences.

I’m afraid Cruz is the lawyerly “caveat candidate”, when the times call for declarative words, and not, “but”,
“if”, “should”, and “may”, which is all too characteristic of Cruz-speak and a strictly political narration.

Listen closely. You can’t miss it.

Trump has become more than just a candidate. It is a movement. A peaceful revolution.

It's a massive cultural revolution...

Word hasn't reached the GOPe yet, but they're worried something undesirable is happening... Bernie Sanders knows a cultural tsunami but holds back... are these 'the workers' he's fought to defend? Now on the other side?

Hillary's clueless establishment elites are uneasy. Maybe a new hairdo or an expensive pair of shoes? The women come and go 'chatting' of Michelangelo...

Trump's ironic smile...smacking of cheshire cat fades in to our world.... and in and in and in...

These are interesting times...

I’m in Texas, and I am a Trump supporter.

I know of many Texas friends/family who are supporting Trump. A few are (libs) former 0 and Hellary supporters.

I don’t know of one single CRuz supporter (family, friends, associates).

I see Trump bumper stickers all along the Texas highways (Central to SE TX), and I don’t ever see any CRuz stickers.

He radiates I am a winner. We’ve seen in the past how this job ages persons rapidly. It will be interesting to view TRUMP 8 years into his term in office. Confession, what does it mean when a common American Citizen dreams she attended a boisterous rally acting like a school girl seeing the Beatles; Elvis; Frank Sinatra - in person? Have never dreamed anything like this before, but last night there I was sitting in the audience hanging on every word spoken. Alas, then awoke thinking it is only a dream, only a dream.
