Trump, Rubio, Clinton or Cruz: Who would be best for Canada?
The Toronto Star ^ | December 26, 2015 | Alexander Panetta The Canadian Press

Justin Trudeau and Hillary Clinton agree on some policies but Trudeau has expressed less-than-warm feeling towards Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be visiting the White House at a fortuitous moment should he hope to chat with the current U.S. president about the cast of characters hoping to become the next one.

The first White House state dinner in 19 years for a Canadian leader will be happening right in the heat of primary season, after voters in key states like South Carolina have already weighed in.

Those votes hold consequences for the Canada-U.S. relationship and whether it ends 2016 the way it begins — with a spirit of amiability and ideological alignment between two national leaders.

The prime minister and president have conveyed mutual affection and a desire to downplay potential irritants, like the Keystone XL pipeline and Canada’s shift in the Mideast combat mission....

As an Albertan I thank America for helping keep us safe during the cold war. We were contributing though in dollars and man power and land use.

We have been allies in wars etc, but now we have an evil leftard at the helm and I think the West should get out.

To lump all of Canada together though is like Canada lumping all America and using DC as their lens.

If Trump wants Alberta to join, he’ll have to prove he’s a constitutionalist first. We won’t trade one retard for another form or tyranny. We are a different breed here, we value freedom and individual rights.

Disagree. Cruz is not consistent on gay marriage as he says it is up to the states. That is BS as marriage is one way period. Federal law is the same for all states and marriage has always been same same except for age. Cruz has those gay hotel owners in NYC he has to please. Trump does not.

True. Both Canada and Mexico won on NAFTA. Trucks all over our interstates. I recall after Bush went along the damn traffic here was full of Hispanic truckers fast.

So says the Toronto RED Star -- Canada's answer to the New York Times (except that the NY Times is a 'right-wing rag' by comparison).

Canada has gotten an almost free ride on America’s dime since WWII. I’m sick of it!

Not really true. I am sick of many Canadians attitudes towards Americans and I sort that out when I come across it. I’ve always viewed real Americans as my brothers and sisters, more so than Canadians because I loved what they stood for.

What’s best for Canada is not what is best for Trudeau.

Trump should make Trudeau build a wall and pay for it.

When the monolith that is the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation which gets massive public funding there is an excuse. Throw in the Toronto Star et al and then CTV television, we have a form of Big Brother information wise. Stephen Harper and his Conservative government were warned. This when attaining power in 2008. He was urged not to try to have CBC "like" him.

He did not cut back sharply on CBC. Viewing the CBC found this. Day after day, the quick, snide remarks usually whipped in at the end of a presentation continued. It was Harper did this, Harper did that ad nauseum. Also bringing in remarks like many Canadians disagree with his policies ." 31.8 Canadians voted for Harper's Conservatives last time out and Conservatives lost the 8.1% swing vote.

PS. Nice job on that terrible day of 9/11. All American flights cancelled. All enrouted to Eastern Canada. Passengers welcomed into Canadian homes. Also Canadian soldiers have died alongside American servicemen in Afghanistan and other places.

Well then, you should do something about it. Such an astute student of history as yourself should have no problem whipping us poor, blood-sucking, socialists into line. And, you know we're all the same. Just as all Americans ...well you know the rest.

"Gotten"?

Trump would never build a wall between Canada and The USA—all thats needed there is a fence. Trump would do more for Canada than any Democrat. Why? All the college professors and leftist reports would flee north when he’s elected.
