TED CRUZ MAKES HUGE LEAP, now just FOUR points away from Trump in new poll!!!

Ted Cruz is going to wake up to an early Christmas gift from the polling elves at Quinnipiac University, as their new results show him making a YUGE leap in popularity to gain on the front-runner Trump. For his part, he increased by one point as well.

Donald Trump’s perch atop the 2016 presidential polls is looking a little shakier this morning.

In the latest Quinnipiac University national survey released Tuesday, Trump leads Texas Sen. Ted Cruz by just four percentage points.

Trump’s share remained essentially unchanged from the university’s last poll, ticking up one point to 28 percent. Cruz, meanwhile, shot up eight percentage points to 24 percent.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio finished third with 12 percent, a five-point drop since late November, while retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson continued his downward spiral with 10 percent, a six-point hit in the same period. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie registered 6 percent, his highest level of support in a telephone poll since late May. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush took 4 percent, while all other candidates earned 2 percent or less and 8 percent remained undecided. Of those who named a candidate, 58 percent of Republican voters said they might change their mind before voting in their state’s primary.

Cruz commanded pluralities of support over Trump among those describing themselves as members of the tea party (38 percent to 27 percent) and white, born-again Evangelical Christians (33 percent to 22 percent). Cruz also led Trump among very conservative supporters (38 percent to 27 percent), while Trump led at least nominally in every other demographic polled.

But it’s close. Among men, for example, Cruz trails Trump 30 percent to 29 percent, while among those with a college degree, he trails 24 percent to 21 percent.

In other results, it looks like Cruz does best in a head-to-head competition with Hillary, but he finishes even:

That is not what they are saying on Planet Jeb!

That 1% uptick is good for fleecing a couple of million more out of the martini soaked brain numbed country club blue bloods.

Just axe ‘em.

I like Cruz but just don t think he can win a national election. He has no chance of bringing democrats into the fold.

The same poll shows Ted even with Hillary. Trump -7 against her.

I can also see Cruz keeping Trump on the the best path. Methinks Trump is likely to stray if left on his own. But I also see that we need a tornado to tear down the disease inflicted on America and that is Trump’s duty. Only he can do that it seems...

My wife has always said, when dealing with an established hierarchy, organization, or culture, "you have to know the rules before you can break them."

In that I see a Trump/Cruz ticket as possibly our national salvation.

Remember the DMR poll which showed Ted Cruz quadrupling his poll numbers and being ahead of Donald Trump by 9 points? The poll that was dismissed by Trump and his acolytes?
Well it turned out to be right. The CBS poll yesterday had Cruz at 40 % and ahead of Trump by 9 points in Iowa too. The trend is your friend.

One of the most significant findings: who won the last debate?: Cruz 40% Trump 20% Rubio 14%

With two more debates in January.

This is why the GOPe tried to ignore Cruz. But the dam has burst.

Cruz does better against Hillary than Trump does by 4 points according to RCP average.

“...Nationally Hillary leads Trump by 7...Hillary tied with Cruz...”

This is why I can not place any faith in these polls. There is no way that Hillary polls that well, unless the poll is delicately and intentionally structured in her favor. What I hear from those on both the right and left in my travels is that she is an embarrassment at *best*. Much worse is usually said.

But I believe that Cruz is the better candidate when it comes to understanding and following the Constitution.

I don't think anyone is questioning that fact.

They're questioning if he's the better candidate to take the general..... And

One other national poll showed Cruz within 5. Cruz does 4 points better against Hillary than Trump does in the RCP average.

I would have done that in a heartbeat- but it’s illegal to bet on politics in the US, even in Vegas. Too bad, there definitely was money to be made.

I know that policy wise Cruz would probably fall where I do more often than Trump. Even where Trump may agree (abortion, gay “marriage”) he doesn’t have the same passion for those issues as Cruz or Santorum. That being said I’m confident that Trump is more likely (not saying it’s a sure thing by any stretch of the imagination) to change the culture of the country in a way that would make conservatism actually be something that can be spoken without 90% of the politicians and public cowering. To be fair Cruz is one of the few that doesn’t cower but he also doesn’t give others the courage and strength to not cower themselves. I believe Trumps approach will have effect and without it the country as a whole continues to move down the dangerous and sad direction of self censorship (pc) and media censorship. The campaign shows the stark contrast between how both of them will deal with PC and the media. Cruz isn’t having the same effect on the culture of the country in spite of his great poll numbers. I suspect this will remain the case even if he is the next President.

Trump will win Ds just like Rs.

He pulls from groups like Reagan did (who also pulled traditional dems).

I don’t meet people that like Hillary either.

But almost every head to head poll has Hillary beating Trump
Trump is usually behind Cruz, Rubio, and Carson when polled head to head with Hillary.

I can’t explain it. I just know what the polls say.
And I have never said anything about the polls showing Trump up in the Republican primary (nationally) being wrong.

Go to RealClearPolitics and look at the head to head polls.

Cruz does 4 points better against Hillary than Trump does in the RCP average.

I'd pay good money to see a demographic breakdown that substantiates such a result....

Cruz isn’t having the same effect on the culture of the country in spite of his great poll numbers. I suspect this will remain the case even if he is the next President.

Particularly once a relieved press begins to work their "magic" on him.

Remember how Hillary Clinton became Hillary Rodam Clinton THE DAY AFTER BILL WAS ELECTED, or how the one point something economic contraction in the final quarter of GHWB's administration became FIVE PERCENT GROWTH, after it was "corrected" post-election?
