According to a recent CNN/ORC poll, many white evangelical Christians in the early primary states support Donald Trump. That’s surprising. Trump’s call Monday to bar all Muslims from entering the U.S. is perhaps the biggest act of religious bigotry in modern presidential politics.

Such a proposal is a total affront to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s stunning that Trump would ask the American people to punish Muslim refugee families for the sins of ISIS. It’s even more stunning that such positions have traction with the American electorate.

As we come upon Christmas, the business mogul turned presidential candidate has become the modern-day Bethlehem hotel owner saying there is “no room at the inn.” That’s not right, and Christians should no longer support him. We are called by our faith to stand up and say that Trump’s proposal is bigoted. This isn’t who we are. And this isn’t what we stand for.

We must counter Trump’s statements about Muslims and immigrants that sow division and hatred in our nation with the truth revealed to us by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ: that every human being is made in the image and likeness of God. Every person has the right to a dignified life, a home and a future.

ACTUALLY, Islam is a total affront to Christianity in that it denies Jesus Christ as Son of God, denies Jesus Christ was crucified for the sins of man, and denies Jesus Christ was resurrected.

Islam teaches that Jesus Christ was just a prophet, comparable but less important than Mohammad the perverted war monger who founded the death cult known as Islam.

He has to enforce it. How will Trump do that?

Well, if he is elected President, then he will do it the way any other president would, by ordering the employees of USCIS and the State Department to implement the order.

If visas are not being granted to a group of people, then they aren't going to be able to arrive in the US by airplane or ship. Have you ever tried to board an airplane without a suitable visa for the destination country? It's not going to happen. If it does then the arriving passenger won't be able to get through immigration, and they'll be stuck in the international area of the airport.

For people arriving by car, bus, or train, the border patrol agents aren't about to let someone enter the country without a suitable visa.

Of course some people may sneak across the border from Mexico or Canada, but I think Mr. Trump intends to make that a lot harder to do than it is now.

There is no self-scrutinization from Islam, just capitulation and whining about being singled out. But that is exactly what is necessary. Perhaps they will decide to weed out their own bad apples *after* they have been marginalized and ridiculed in the open. That is the price of their inaction. Ridicule and "bigotry" is a trivial price to pay for the carnage others have suffered.

Trump should say: Yeah, you guys are the religious bigots, angry that Jews and Christians aren't being barred.

You missed the point of what I wrote. I was not discussing an undisputed fact that true Islamists will kill those that don’t believe as they do. Nor was I remotely making a case for being passive in the face of Islamic aggression.

What I was discussing was that Christ loves all men everywhere and died to save all men everywhere IF they will believe in Him as he commanded. His love is not conditional on their belief, only their foregiveness is.

The FR poster I was responding too appeared to be sarcastic in saying Christ “loves” Muslims. I was being clear that Christ loves ALL sinners and unbelievers be they Muslim or a rich businessman that only nominally associates himself with true Christianity.

The Apostle Paul in the New Testament actively hunted down and put Christians to death until God intervened and brought Paul to faith in Jesus Christ. He went from being a killer to one of the most influential persons of the Apostles and wrote most of the books (letters) of the New Testament. If Paul can be saved, then so can a Muslim. Of course they will no longer be Muslim! They will be a genuine Christian.

The point is that God through Jesus Christ loves all...even the wicked and violent...and desires their conversion.

Christians must work against Trump and ensure Muslims are welcomed in the U.S., because as Pope Francis recently reminded us, they are our brothers and sisters.
