Authorities discovered a pipe bomb in a residential neighborhood in Anaheim Friday night, police said. Police received a call about a suspicious device around 10:15 p.m. in the 300 block of Claudina Street, according to the Anaheim Police Department.
When officers arrived, they noticed a makeshift pipe bomb with explosives inside, according to the Anaheim Police Department.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad responded to the scene and rendered the device safe, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

Anyway I got off the fire truck and walked inside and the dude reaches under the cabinet and brings out two pipe bombs and thrusts them into my hands. He said someone threw these on the roof.
Both had fuses in the end burned part way down, one almost to the cap.
I’m like WTF amigo!!!!! So I slowly walked them outside and set them down in the parking lot . He was pissed because we shut the place down waiting on the Bomb Squad to come get. The shaking didn’t START till about an hour later.
Silly me. I forgot payload.
I come from people who made their own powder to use in rifles they made.
Out in the woods.
No electricity.
No running water, except for the spring in the yard.
No flush toilets, or toilet paper, before Sears and Roebuck.

a good pipe bomb is fabricated from stuff purchased at a hardware store. the san bernadino hand grenades were made from new galvanized elbows and plugs and were thus not makeshift.

I knew a very smart and highly compensated, white, middle aged, man who delighted in making and exploding bombs. (At least he talked about it frequently.) The above link is about American juvenile bombers. But I’ve read elsewhere that around 5,000 bombs per year are disarmed by local police bomb squads.
I suspect that most troops we sent to Vietnam could at least change a flat tire; today the wussified young people simply call someone else to do it - and those “someone elses” are now outvoting them.

Improvised pipe bomb? Is that like wet water?
It seems like there is aneighborhood there called Little Arabia with two mosques.
Maybe the terrorists were afraid of being caught... Who knows when the FBI will get their hands on the hard-drive...or some more phone numbers off the animal’s cell phones.
I know what a pipe bomb is, but what is an improvised pipe bomb? I thought all pipe bombs were improvised.
Little Arabia centers on Brookhurst St a few miles west of where this latest pipe bomb and the one from November were found. The neighborhoods where the bombs have been found are the original center of Anaheim and are now heavily latino.
Anything that happens near Disneyland like this is very suspect as it’s been a target for a long time.
It’s not particularly close to Disneyland. Something in the Resort District would raise a red flag but this is the original center of the city north of the 5 fwy.
This area is about a 2 minute drive to Disneyland.
It’s not all that close. I have friends that live a short walk from where this bomb was found and I drive through that neighborhood at least once a week. If absolutely no one else was on the road and you hit every green light you might get to Disney’s gate in 10 minutes. We went to a restaurant at Downtown Disney last week and waited nearly 5 minutes just to clear the Ball Rd intersection. Longest light in the world.
Periodically we have some training and it shows the results of the pipe bomb going off in the makers hands.
Black powder and smokeless to a lesser extent is pressure sensitive. One grain of black powder in the threads might be enough to detonate it.
note the substance in the photo. It appears to be beige or tan in color and not the shiny black appearance I think of as black powder.
One wonders if wondering what the substance is on line gets you on the list
