A large number of propane tanks have been reported stolen from several locations is Independence and Lee`s Summit.
At the end of November, a BP gas station in Lee`s Summit reported 18-20 propane tanks stolen from the outside cages. That same night the CVS on Southwest 3rd Street reported the exact same crime.
Two weeks later, the CVS on East 23rd Street in Independence was hit, and 28 tanks were stolen from that location.
How far we’ve come from the Reagan days. . a sense of peace and prosperity vs. when is the next attack coming? Thanks commies. .
So do we have a number of tanks that are about equal to the number of phones stolen? So these are tanks that are from these outdoor exchange stations where you can insert an “empty” tank and remove a full one? There is a lot of space at the bottom of a propane tank. That could easily hide some explosives and a cell phone and tucked into a spot in the midst of full tanks....at a gas station....or where grandma gets her prescriptions filled?
Looks to be about twice as many phones as propane tanks. Which figures out about right if you figure two phones per tank - one for the detonator on the tank and one to set it off.
Does anyone recall back in the Janet Napolitano days that the purchase of prepaid phones or disposable phones was a “red flag”?
Perhaps there was a recent policy change? similar to the whistleblower on the Kelly file?

Number of reports of mass cell phone buys grows in Missouri

KY3 reporters have repeatedly called Walmart headquarters to try to find out if Walmart has a policy that limits the number of cell phones that one person can buy at a time, or has recently changed its policy. Walmart representatives have not returned those calls. On Thursday, a KSPR reporter went to the Walmart store on South Campbell Avenue in Springfield and tried to buy six cell phones and was told the limit is two; the store employees were not told he is a reporter.
TPN MEDIA EXCLUSIVE: MISSOURI TERRORISM? CELL PHONES, PROPANE TANKS AND NOW THIS!
http://dailyheadlines.net/2015/12/tpn-media-exclusive-missouri-terrorism-cell-phones-propane-tanks-and-now-this/
TPN Media has learned, from multiple sources in the St. Louis area, that Middle Eastern men have been trying to buy weapons, armor and other tactical gear, non-registered/non-reported, with cash. These men are offering 2 to 3 times the value for these items. Gun stores, tactical shops and the public are urged to be on the lookout for this suspicious activity and report anything they see to ATF and/or the FBI.

Stealing much of anything would attract law enforcement's attention.
The propane bomb angle has been tried before, iirc in Times Square. As for a tool of choice, they have a steel casing capable of holding in pressure. They can remove the valve on top and fill the casing with whatever they want, or they can leave the valve on the tank and fill it, again, with whatever they want.
The former brings all sorts of possibilities to mind as a bomb casing (much like a pressure cooker), the latter could be used to hold any number of chemical agents which are bad for flowers, trees, or other living things.
Or maybe they ran short of tanks for the burners at the big goat fry (ri-ight).
Meth cookers use propane tanks to steal anyhdrous ammonia. There is a side effect in that the brass valves turn blue. The color is a tipoff. That would be a lot of Anhydrous to steal and haul around, and one small leak would make the thief pretty miserable, if it didn’t kill them.
Propane tanks are not very expensive. Why not just buy them?
Good question. Maybe being recorded on security cams is a concern. Or, assuming this actually is terror-related, maybe it’s intended to become known to create fear and anxiety.
A trail.
Seriously, if you 'see something' call the FBI - Homeland's compromised...infiltrated... whatever horror Drudge says...
She don’t lie...she don’t lie...she don’t lie..........Propane!
"Multiple propane tanks were found near the suspect's car, and authorities said they believed that he planned to fire on the tanks to cause an explosion."
Placed in cars or trucks full of gasoline and shrapnel. One will be set off, and when responders gather, they set off the second and third.
