The U.S. is running out of bombs to drop on ISIS

The U.S. Air Force has fired off more than 20,000 missiles and bombs since the U.S. bombing campaign against ISIS began 15 months ago, according to the Air Force, leading to depleted munitions stockpiles and calls to ramp up funding and weapons production.

As the U.S. ramps up its campaign against the Islamist terror group in Iraq and Syria, the Air Force is now "expending munitions faster than we can replenish them," Air Force chief of staff Gen. Mark Welsh said in a statement.

"B-1s have dropped bombs in record numbers. F-15Es are in the fight because they are able to employ a wide range of weapons and do so with great flexibility. We need the funding in place to ensure we're prepared for the long fight," Welsh said in the statement. "This is a critical need."

The bombing campaign has left the U.S. Air Force with what an Air Force official described as munitions depot stocks "below our desired objective."

Yeah, a flight of 1000 b-17s and 24s dropping dumb iron bombs would be the ticket here.

“Bombing has never won a war, and it never will.”

Well, there were those two pesky little bombs we dropped in Japan in WWII. That sort of ended the war there rather quickly.

Agree....

An IMHO Obama wants to damage all the hardware, exhaust the experienced leadership, deplete the war reserves and kill any chance for America to survive a war with any formidable enemies standing military....

Guessing his current plan is to steal the position of Secretary General of the UN after he’s out as Piss Ant POTUS.

This nation needs about 8 years of a purest form of isolationism to rebuild, strengthen, and set in stone a policy of America first, above all else.
Legal immigration welcomed after they pass the new and improved Ellis Island like processing.

Refugee infestation .... No thanks.

It has been reported that our planes return to base with half their bomb load or more still attached to plane. How could we thus, be out of bombs?

Yes there were.

If they had been dropped on December 10, 1941, do you believe Japan would have surrendered?

Without Guadalcanal, without Leyte, without Iwo Jima, without sinking the entire IJN, the bombs would have been meaningless.

Deploy nukes. They are more efficient- much more destruction vs. the number deployed.

How on earth did we win WWII?

Probably by not using “smart” bombs that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars each to destroy unmanned construction equipment.

Smart bombs are a terrorist’s dream come true. They hide in mosques, neighborhoods, etc.

I am a big believer in dumb bombs. People in cities would run all the terrorists out of town if they knew we were going to drop lots and lots of dumb bombs on them. They would know their families are at great risk if terrorists came to their towns. They wouldn’t put up with as much extremism.

Mk 82 500# GP bombs cost $2,082.50 (in 2001) each. What’s the problem?

Any extra defence spending is going to pay for sex change operations for employees that want them, and diversity training.

If he wants to take money budgeted for bullets and bombs and spend it on Global Warming he can do so.

Or send unemployment checks to the drivers of oil trucks that were blown up..............

Propaganda piece to convince people that Obama is really fighting the islamic state.

My first thought also. What about all the reports of aircraft returning to base with 75% of bombs not dropped?

I thought we had too many old Nukes laying around? Drop them and turn Mosul into Heroshema. Use dirty bombs and make ISLAND into a place so radioactive just visiting would cause radiation sickness and death. Lets see how the “Holy Warriors” like that! They would (and will) do it to us.
