Al Qaeda terrorists reportedly declared war on the Islamic State Monday following a “dispute” between the groups over a prisoner exchange with the Lebanese army.

The two competing terror organizations are at odds with one another, with clashes erupting along the Syrian and Lebanese borders, Iran’s state-controlled Fars News Agency reported, citing “sources.”

And remember they are fighting about the best way or who is to have the privilege of killing you and me.

Fine. They can keep on fighting about that. Right up to February, 2017.

Is it wrong to have a suspicion that many fighters are merceneries, working for whatever group funds them?

I think they migrate from ISIS, to Al Queda, to Muslim Brotherhood, to (moderate) Syrian Militants, to Syrian Army, to Iraqi Army, to Daish, to Kurds, to Turkish Army, to Taliban......

That absolutely happened in Afghanistan; a buyout of a supposed tribal ally allowed Bin Laden to escape Tora Bora. Family and tribal ties dominate rural and remote regions; I doubt some of those can actually conceive of a nation-state.

In more dense and urban areas tribal affiliation exerts less influence, but it is still significant.

This reported animosity between AQ and ISIS is more likely the swapping of allegiances among constituent tribes seeking better advantage or opportunities to avenge old slights.

Yawn. What’s new. You’d think that the rest of the world would eventually learn to simply isolate that area of the planet, but no, politicians’ hubris always brings them back to the oil “riches” of the ME. Too bad those “riches” always end up costing more then they are worth.
