urkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday his government would act "patiently and not emotionally" before taking any measures in response to Russia's decision to impose sanctions on Turkey.
Moscow said earlier in the day that it would ban mainly imports of agricultural products from Turkey after the Turkish military downed a Russian warplane on Nov. 24 which Ankara said had breached Turkish airspace while flying missions in Syria.
"Let's act patiently and not emotionally," Erdogan told reporters when asked whether Turkey would hit back with its own sanctions. "Let's let their chips fall as they may, then if we have our own chips, we'll let those fall."
Erdogan was speaking in comments broadcast live by CNN Turk television on the sidelines of a climate summit in Paris, where efforts to bring him together with Russian President Vladimir Putin failed.
Turkey was working to ensure ties with Russia, its main energy supplier, do not rupture completely, Erdogan said, describing Moscow as a "strategic partner."

Russia should cut off exports and shut down the ISIS flow too.
Turkey is an International Criminal Regime. That they are still in NATO is baffling to me.
They are an enemy of the American People.
Yes, but they are friends of Barry and Valerie.
I thought the Turks already shut down the Bosporus to Russia?
Remember, Ataturk was originally a military man who got fed up with the caliphate and the wasted lives in World War I.
They should have waited for 17 seconds before now.
Read that title as turkey is scare $h!7less
Russia can ship heavy weaponry to the Kurds and Erdogan will have major internal problems. Also, if any Turkish plans cross the Syrian border to bomb the Kurds, the Russians should shoot them down.
(Turkey is an International Criminal Regime. That they are still in NATO is baffling to me.
They are an enemy of the American People.)
That’s exactly why Obama likes them!
Remember also that Turkey prevented US planes to enter their air space to attack Saddam. Shouldn’t allies, you know, actually support their allies when needed? If they never do, why in the world should we still count them as allies? Especially when they actually support the enemy?
plans = planes
“would act “patiently and not emotionally””
So I guess shooting down the Russian plane was acting patiently and not emotionally?
Well, well, well...I believe it’s time to hope for a cold-as-hell winter in Turkey.
That was most certainly a false report.
You by the fact we aren't in the midst of WW III.
Erdogan’s sphincter has no doubt been tensing up.
Sit down Barky, that doesn’t mean what you think it means.
That’s fairly sound advice considering the feller you’re about to slap in the face has nuclear weapons and the key to your gas and oil supply. I’m all for hearts and minds but when you have them by the...
Russia is the enemy of the US. Putin is the enemy of the US and a crimelord. This is irrespective of who is POTUS.
Furthermore, Russia can’t sanction any country, having already been suffering from sanctions due to its various illegal escapades, invasions, and temporary annexations.
Turkey hosts pipelines that Russia uses and needs to transport its product to Europe, so it can do nothing without cornholing its customers.
Turkey imports petroleum; over half comes from Iran and Iraq. About 3% of Turkish imports comes from Russia, which has been trying to shift sales to Asian customers, in particular China. 10% comes from Saudi Arabia,
8% from Kazakhstan. Russia produces very little that Turkey imports, Turkey has some exports to Russia. I didn’t look it up, but my wild guess is, Turkey’s exports to Greece and the EU dwarf whatever it sells to Russia.

I really can’t fault the Turks for getting impatient with Russia. The Turks had been complaining about Russian warplanes incurring Turkey since the summer time. Don’t forget that Russia was also running lots of aggressive military flights in the Baltics and off of both coasts of the USA.
How so?
President Tayyip Erdogan will rue the day he ever listened to Barack Obama!
Putin is killing islamic terrorist while Obama is dropping leaflets telling them to run & hide !
