I went on a ski trip once in Sweden with a large group.

As it often does with Euros and Americans, the topic turned to guns. I remember them specifically saying how horrible it must be to live in a society where one felt they needed to carry a gun to go to the grocery store.

Shoe, other foot. Wish I could have dinner with those people now.

Did you explain that it wasn’t necessarily a need, but a desire to be able to exercise your God-given right to defend yourself if need be?

I would’ve said it must be horrible to know that under their government’s rule it was considered verboten to be able to defend oneself should the need arise - that it must be terrible to live in a place that denies God-given rights that are so fundamental.
