WISCONSIN (WBAY) -- Every hunter remembers their first buck and the story of how they got it. But a 10-year-old boy from Wisconsin had a rare experience that some may call beginner's luck.
"I wanted to go hunting this year because I really wanted a deer," said 10-year-old Kyler Verbeten.
Kyler went out hunting Sunday with his dad, with his gun for the first time.
"This squirrel kept distracting me, so I kept watching the squirrel," said Kyler. "The squirrel was just jumping from tree to tree, everything. It was just doing weird stuff."
Kyler and his dad eventually saw two deer in the woods.
"I said, shoot the big doe, because there was a smaller one," said Matt Verbeten, Kyler's dad. "He had the gun, and I'm kind of laughing, we'll see how he does, he's 10..."
Kyler's first shot missed the target.
"I said, 'Shoot again,' he puts it back up, BOOM. They just fell right over," said Matt.
Kyler's second bullet hit and killed two deer, the shot going through both animals.
"I was so excited I almost jumped out of the stand," said Kyler, "I just ran down the ladder and ran out there to look at them."
Kyler's dad helped him gun and drag the deer, and used his own tag, along with Kyler's, since they weren't planning on Kyler shooting two deer.
His dad says besides a one-of-a-kind first experience, he hopes Kyler takes away a lesson from the woods.
"Just for kids nowadays to get the value of nature, to get outside and do something," said Matt. "There's not an app for something like that."
Kyler says he'll sit with his dad and his brothers the rest of the season, and will definitely be back for more next year.
"Are you going to get three with one shot next year?" we asked Kyler.
"Probably...maybe, I don't know. Probably not," Kyler said.
Deer are nuisance animals that happen to taste good. Their population needs to be controlled.
God, in His infinite wisdom, made the things most necessary for survival also the most enjoyable. At the top of the list are eating and procreation.
If God didn’t want us to eat animals, He wouldn’t have made them out of meat.
The key to the story: a father is out sharing a great moment with his son, and they have a story to tell for decades.
Unlike 10 million baggy-pants LaQuans.
I can understand that back in pioneer days one was forced to kill deer and the like or starve.
Today there is no excuse- except for the thrill of killing.
Tell me; does it give you a thrill to watch these beautiful, innocent animals twitching and dying in agony?
Does it give you a thrill to finally watch the light go out of their beautiful eyes?
Do you eat beef? Do you eat meat? If you do do, you have no leg to stand on.
Looks like someone went to get herself a bigger shovel.
Popcorn at the ready....
Liberals always reveal themselves.
In most states it is illegal to shoot an animal you don’t have a tag in your name for. Expect a visit from fish and game.
My middle son killed two deer with one 2008 Honda on I69 in Mississippi, one large and a smaller doe, the Honda was totaled.
You are only looking at half of the possibilities for these animals. Deer don’t have very long lives. 8 years is pretty old for a deer. Do you know what happens to them in nature?
The Bucks might be gored by another buck, while they lay there something really bad happens and I don’t mean the veterinarian comes and treats their wounds.
They don’t live fairytale lives and then just fly away. A well placed bullet to the brain might be the best, easiest way to die.
10 year old Wisconsin hunter bags 2 deer with one bullet on first hunting trip.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
.
I guess this puts the kibosh to the skepticism about the Warren Commission's "magic bullet" theory.
“Tell me; does it give you a thrill to watch these beautiful, innocent animals twitching and dying in agony?”
Tell me, does having them run out into the road en mass excite you due to human injuries caused afterwards?
Does the vehicular damage give you a tingle?
Deer herds without hunting pressure explode in size, overpopulate, then get diseased and suffer starvation.
Do you enjoy seeing deer suffer starvation and disease?
“Tell me; does it give you a thrill to watch these beautiful, innocent animals twitching and dying in agony?”
Not a thrill so much, but at least that one won’t end up through a windshield and killing a woman like the one awhile back in McClean Virginia.
“Does it give you a thrill to finally watch the light go out of their beautiful eyes?”
Do you mean as they bend down to a creek and take a sip of water with their little deer lips...and BANG! Right between the eyes? One less carrier of the lyme disease tick.
That is VERY funny !
.
There are way to many deer around, they are ruin the forest, crops and have a tendency to jump in front of cars which kills people.
All of these would be good reason to hunt but the other side is that they taste good. Harvesting deer is no different then taking a pig to slaughter.
When I run up against those who deplore the former and advocate the latter I know I have found a liberal.
I was wondering the same, perhaps an old Model 71 in .348WIN
Protecting the border and hunting are two entirely different things.
Tell ya what...I’ll use drone technology to give the animals a fighting chance....more sporting that way say what?
Meanwhile whilst the poor wabbits are getting hunted down...Americans HUMANS are being shot down in our streets by illegal invading humans. NOT DEER...NOT WABBITS.
Deploring the killing of anything innocent...is not a liberal trait....I GIVE YOU PLANNED PARENTHOOD.
Besides....these arguments will all be for not...once our new “refugee” friends arrive. They won’t be hunting animals either.
I’m series......
