U.S. Urges Turkey to Seal Border
Wall Street Journal ^ | Nov. 27, 2015 | Adam Entous, Gordon Lubold, and Dion Nissenbaum

The Obama administration is pressing Turkey to deploy thousands of additional troops along its border with Syria to cordon off a 60-mile stretch of frontier that U.S. officials say is used by Islamic State to move foreign fighters in and out of the war zone.

The U.S. hasn’t officially requested a specific number of soldiers. Pentagon officials estimated that it could take as many as 30,000 to seal the border on the Turkish side for a broader humanitarian mission. Cordoning off just one section alone could take 10,000 or more, one official estimated.

It’s unclear how Turkey will respond. Turkish officials said they agree that tighter border control is necessary, and have begun implementing some measures. They suggested that the Pentagon troop estimates are inflated, but declined to give a number of their own.

In return for doing more to fight Islamic State, Turkey is seeking more financial help from Europe to deal with its 2.2 million Syrian refugees, as well as support for a safe zone in Syria—an idea that has been shelved by the Obama administration as too risky and complicated.

Deploying troops along a border to keep undesirables from crossing said border. What a thought....

They would be there as grinning ISIS greeters.

There would inevitably be a clash between Russians and the Turkish enablers at the border.

Better if Russia just keeps blowing the $hit out of anything seen moving across the border.

Normal I would say yes, but the Turks are sending an Armor Brigade to the border.

Turkey is backing ISIS. Hence the ‘boos’ at the ‘moment of silence’ at the soccer match.

They are moving oil through there as well. The U.S. has known about it and done nothing.

Putin is there to stop it... because he wants to sell them Russian oil instead.

OHHHH,,, I get the new game. Turkey moves a huge force right up to the border. 2 or 3 mortar rounds hit inside Turkey. (or perhaps guys in ISIS uniforms raid a radio station inside Turkey,,,, snicker)

Then the Turk force moved into Turkey 40 or 50 miles on an “anti-isis” operation. Of course there will need to be a NATO no fly zone over that area of Syria and the Russians will be to they cant bomb there because NATO troops will be all over the area.

Obama the Sunni is working WITH Erdogan, this is a plot.

Laughingly hypocritical that Obama is pressing anyone to deploy troops to their own borders to stop the flow of people when he constantly tells us that can’t work.

And the bottom line is that ISIS is a partner with Turkey. Anything Turkey does on the border there will be to assist ISIS, and to try to deter Russia from attacking the rebels.

Seal the borders, but let the ISIS crude oil thru. A band of religious thugs orchestrated out of the white house need to eat.

I held off on replying until I could (hopefully) find someone who saw through the smoke and mirrors this article is putting up.

I agree with your theory and would add that this is to make Turkey and Obama look OK to NATO. Acting like they now want to secure the border.
