I personally will not change my position on the right to keep and bear arms even if these incidents happen ten times a day in every major city. It is a reason to be armed, not surrender to the would-be tyrants who are drooling over the power to round up their political opponents. No thanks.
How dare you refer to our fallen officer as a rent-a-cop. He was a sworn law enforcement officer who rushed to a scene that was not within his bailiwick without hesitation. How about a little respect.
...and yet police and local Gov’t will continually asset their position that they are under NO OBLIGATION to protect individual citizens the courts have supported their position.

I also noticed the absence of “this is not a terrorist incident”. They save that one in order to announce it .000382 seconds after stating that the perp’s name is mohammed.

If he said something about “no more baby parts”, are they going to try to make the people who made the video liable? We know how much they like to use people who make videos as scapegoats.
As a matter of fact, University of Oklahoma campus police had sidearms in 1973 when I was there. Also marked patrol cars equipped with full sets of lights, sirens, and secured back-seat cages for arrestees.
I don't recall seeing any long arms in campus patrol cars, but then those were less common in the 1970's.
