The Navy faces a crisis on the near horizon with too few ships, tired sailors and emerging global threats, leaving the Pentagon with no easy choices, a new study concludes.

The main problem facing the Navy and Marine Corps is "that demand for naval forces exceeds the supply they can sustainably deliver," according to the report from the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments (CSBA) released Nov. 18.

See my post at #17. Gritty pretty much was on the right track.

And what is it about changing to this bizarre blue camo?

When it is Man Overboard wearing that crap, it is a given you aren’t going to be easily found.

Bunch of damned mental midgets.

Interesting and demonstrates how hard it is to track the so-called stimulus money. If the GOP had a pair (and a clue) they would have capitalized on this. However, I am sure the GOPe got a few crumbs so they said nothing and nothing tells the story of what is wrong with this government more than that statement.

My kids have to pay for the unaffordable and unsustainable programs of today - we don’t have politicians or leaders - we have a bunch of thieves.

Right. It isn’t the military or the US Navy that is breaking the financial back of this country.

It is the taxation and redistribution of wealth through entitlements and boondoggles like this stimulus. Well, at least a boondoggle usually has some ill-conceived plan.

The stimulus was never, ever intended for anything like even an ill-conceived plan. It was handing out money to political friends. That’s it.

your perception is correct. I will send letters to the Naval History magazine, but not to the Proceedings any longer; not after the way they handled DADT.
Here is the letter I sent to these people.

Thomas L. Wilkerson
Chief Executive Officer
U.S. Naval Institute, Beach Hall
291 Wood Road
Annapolis, MD 21402

Retired Colonel McKay is on firm ground when he finds comfort in the discussions to date about federal law §654 Policy Concerning Homosexuality and Eliminating DADT, because you have not allowed essays or letters offering substantive information or posing difficult arguments. The Senior Chief is correct in observing that arguments so far are limited to a false dichotomy about social experimentation supported by emotional expositions.

However, such is your clear intent. You failed to respond to the letter and attachments I sent the Proceedings last month. You failed to publish any of my letters, which provide the substantive arguments people of intellectual courage need to engage in meaningful discussions. I wonder how many other letters like mine you need to suppress now that you have been cooped to the homosexual agenda?

In preparing my own letters to USNI, I discovered the Institute published about a dozen articles from December 1992 through April 1993 the last time service of gays in the military was a prominent issue for discussion. This time there have been only three. I would say the current debate inclusive of August and September letters more properly belongs on the editorial page of a local paper.

This time I sent the letter both first class and certified, which is the method courts accept to begin a foreclosure proceeding. At least this way I will have the satisfaction of a legally defined response.

Obama’s been President 7 years and his plan to shrink and destroy the military from within is in full bloom. Ask him why the Navy is so overworked.

We still need at least 500 ships/12 CG Battle Groups.

While there's not another capital ship in the world that compares with the Arleigh Burke class DDG, we can't afford 100 more.

While the Freedom class LCS is the right size at 3500t, they didn't put much firepower on it.

We need 100 of these, with upgraded armaments, while we build 2-3 Arleigh Burke's per year...and another Carrier every other year.

And 3 SSNs annually.

I'm not a lawyer of any kind but I think it can be more than clearly said America is in serious trouble and so is the world. We have what seems to me to be an increasingly derailed administration that never fully understood what governance was in the first place and clearly a very crimminal cabal and a president, a man who seems to be becoming emotionally , physically run down , distracted, uninterested and mentally unhinged. There are remedies that were left to us by The Founders, each one more extreme in progression but were given to us to deal with such extreme circumstances with the stated hope and secret dread that they would never have to be resorted to. Government is a human creation and humans aren't perfect so neither is anything we create. The Constitution and The Bill Of Rights are not a suicide pact. We are under no legal or moral obligation to follow this man over the cliff. No man is bigger than the office nor overlord of the American people. The president is to ‘’preserve, protect and defend the Constitution'', that means We The People and he is clearly not up to the task. He never was from the get go. It is as you say Jim, that this man is gutting our military as a means to deliver us on a leash to an envious world. By some means of the powers we were given this man has to go. He is clearly not up to the task and he is endangering us all. Impeachment, resignation or worse by God, he has to go.

Governor Bobby Jindal expressed his concerns to the president by writing a letter to the executive office.

"As with former immigration crises and federal relocation policy, Louisiana has been kept in the dark about those seeking refuge in the state and it is irresponsible and severely disconcerting to place individuals, who may have ties to ISIS, in a state without the state's knowledge or involvement," he wrote.

They don’t need ties to ISIS to destroy a country. They have no respect and take anything that they want. It’s called anarchy.

Excellent letter, and...thank you for your service.

They weren’t interested in listening to any dissenting point of view from theirs.

They were only interested, apparently, in advocacy.
