Are at least some of Trump's backers, as many liberals argue, racist or intolerant? In interviews, Trump supporters often say they like the mogul's blunt approach, that he "tells it like it is," without always detailing what "it is" that Trump is explaining so clearly.

At least some Trump supporters are bound to be racist. With so many supporters, a complete absence of racists would be a miracle.

This is a sharp contrast to Obama, where the overwhelming majority of his supporters started out racist and have become even more racist.

Obama has racist supporters who think blacks do not have the "intellectual wherewithal" (I wish I could remember which democrat said that a couple decades ago) to compete with whites, so they need extra help.

Obama has racist supporters who think whites are guilty of crimes committed more than 160 years ago, and that they have this guilt because of the color of their skin.

Obama has racist supporters who only voted for Obama because he is partly black.

I would guess around 1% of Trump supporters are racist, while 80% or more of Obama supporters are racist.

From a recently pulled (zotted) thread, you wrote something I responded to. Here is is:

> “Trump has certainly benefited from crony-capitalism.”

I don’t see this and I’ve researched and studied it at length. We may be looking at the definition of crony-capitalism different. I define it as first order government to favored contractors facilitated by banking contacts.

In my findings, I have not found him to have benefitted from any large government contractor enterprise. Most all of his wealth has derived from prime real estate deals that have executed on a very large scale. His wealth is private. He reminds me of Leo Linbeck Jr. in this regard.

> “The question for voters is if he would govern that way or if his financial success through that route insulates him from future temptations.”

Trump has already mentioned the carry trade and currency manipulators who are at the heart of crony-capitalism. They hate him as he plans to end their gravy train. In fact, a lot of the political establishment, the US Chamber of Commerce, K-Street and the NY Media which comprise most of the national news media want to see him destroyed. It does not seem at all to me that he would be in bed with the crony-capitalists when these forces are aligned against him.

Trump is very old school. He’s actually earned a lot of his wealth that I can see. It’s also evident that he has street smarts and can talk to trades people as if he is one of them.

He has evidently by his own admission been involved in buying favors for his real estate deals such as zoning permits, legislation that benefits his development projects, etc. But I do not see where he has taken large government grants or contracts that would mark a crony-capitalist deal.

One strong indicator of a candidate who would support continuing a culture of crony-capitalism would be whether the establishment supports or endorses the candidate. I see no endorsement coming from establishment types for Donald Trump.
