Thinking About the Trumpthinkable
The New York Times ^ | November 22, 2015 | Paul Krugman

Posted on 11/25/2015 6:52:13 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Alan Abramowitz reads the latest WaPo poll and emails:

Read these results and tell me how Trump doesn’t win the Republican nomination? I’ve been very skeptical about this all along, but I’m starting to change my mind. I think there’s at least a pretty decent chance that Trump will be the nominee.

Here’s why I think Trump could very well end up as the nominee:

1. He’s way ahead of every other candidate now and has been in the lead or tied for the lead for a long time.

2. The only one even giving him any competition right now is Carson who is even less plausible and whose support is heavily concentrated among one (large) segment of the base—evangelicals.

3. Rubio, the great establishment hope now, is deep in third place, barely in double digits and nowhere close to Trump or Carson....

Its going to be Trump in the primary.

A significant percentage of Dems will defect to Trump for the national.

Its going to be a blow-out.

Hey Krugface, we have had to LIVE the unthinkable for the past seven years. When the pendulum swings, it swings hard.

Rubio appears to be slipping to fourth with Cruz now 2 and 3 in many polls, and Carson continues on his fade.

The more The Cheap Labor Express has tried to take Trump down, the higher his numbers go.

People are sick of the illegal alien inundation.

Read the article...laughed at many of the reader’s comments sans one...one of the commenters had a fairly long reasoning why a Trump victory is entirely plausible, the least of which, but probably most accurate reasoning of why he will win is, “Can you imagine Trump giving a concession speech? Neither can I”.

Carson hung on longer than I thought he would, but he was destined to crash and burn.

Agreed. If he wins the R nomination, he’ll win the general hands down.

Which is why he’d win as indie too.

Love it...gope will have to either see the GOP taken over by Trump/Cruz (and they hate them both) or see their party die.

Lolololol

I respect Krugman’s comments here about as much as I respect his command of economics.

Oh, I kind of think some of them do...and they don’t like the feeling it’s giving them.

Yup. If he wins the R nomination it means that people are really, really against The Establishment (and we already know that).

Which basically means the mood of the country will be against Hillary who is 100% Establishment.

Trump will beat her in a landslide either as an R or as an Independent.

I know three dems who have never voted for a Republican in their lives... who are planning on voting for Trump.
