Ted Cruz on Wednesday edged into a virtual tie with GOP front-runner Donald Trump in a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday for the state of Iowa, with Trump retaining a narrow lead of 25 percent of the vote, followed by Cruz with 23 percent, doubling his support from four weeks ago.
By the numbers:

The GOPe set up Florida as a winner take all state betting on Bush or Rubio. Florida is going Trump, like it or lump it.
Nope.. I heard his whole bumbling answer... and yes.. you’re spinning... But thanks for your input

The idea that the Senate being full of dedicated RINOs who don’t like Cruz somehow disqualifies Cruz from the presidency is really far out there into the land of lunacy.
If you haven’t noticed, the GOP elites hate Trump too. Do you think if Trump was in the Senate and filibustered for 24 hours against Obamacare the outcome would’ve been any different? Obama would insist he would veto their repeal and the GOP would cave in.
The point is to elect a President who we know and can trust where he stands on the issues. That’s where picking a “consistent conservative” factors in.
In your mind, it is bumbling to highlight the contempt Obama has brought on himself, and how that undercuts world respect for the USA?
You can’t be serious.
Cruz will never go on personal attacks, Trump will as he has done it over and over and over.

The reality is the U.S. public has always heavily opposed illegals and amnesty. We almost got it with the Gang of 8 bill anyway. But Cruz, Mike Lee, talk radio and others stood up, energized the public and got the switchboards lit up to stop it. Trump was not involved in that as far as I know. Of course we’re talking about it more this year in the lamestream media, because they have to cover the primary election. But Trump did nothing to move the public on the issue. They were already there unless you believe a few liberal push polls.
Cruz better, or he is going to get mowed over by Rubio.
He would never beat Hillary being the nice guy.

HAHAHAHAHLOL There you go AGAIN, Marcella trying to pick a fight with me.
I joined Freerepublic on April 22, 2015.
Donald Trump declared his candidacy June 16, 2015.
For those who went to school and learned to count that means I joined almost two MONTHS before anyone even knew Trump was going to run. Rather puts a hole in your balloon, doesn’t it?
How’s that working out for you on Free Republic?
Cruz is a lawyer. He is SUPPOSED to be able to debate. That doesn’t make him any wizard.
I don’t adhere to political correctness when we’re at war. Trump is right. We don’t WIN any more. We are at war and we had better WIN it. And we won’t win by being politically correct.
Howâs that working out for you on Free Republic?

Just fine, thank you.
I support Cruz but will vote for Trump if he wins the nomination. How about you?
Would you vote for Cruz if he wins the nomination?
Of course. I was a Cruz supporter before he made such drastic mistakes that proved to me he needs more seasoning in the real world. I switched to Trump because he has the skill set to get the job done. Cruz can learn a lot from Trump. His time is later, not now.
Most Trump supporters feel the same way. unfortunately, most Cruz supporters do not support Trump. The reciprocity is just not there.
I consider Hillary the enemy and the one to attack, attack, attack.
Thanks; not surprised. The temperament of some of them is downright comical in its acidity.
Yeah, you're fighting AGAINST the conservative in the race, and FOR the guy who even Limbaugh admits is not conservative.
Interesting, that.
