Ted Cruz on Wednesday edged into a virtual tie with GOP front-runner Donald Trump in a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday for the state of Iowa, with Trump retaining a narrow lead of 25 percent of the vote, followed by Cruz with 23 percent, doubling his support from four weeks ago.

By the numbers:

The Quinnipiac Poll was conducted between Nov. 16-22 of 600 likely Iowa Republican Caucus participants, and carried a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points. In addition, 58 percent of the voters said they might still change their minds.

...

Meanwhile, Carson received the top favorability rating, at 79-15 percent, followed by 73-15 percent for Cruz, 70-18 percent for Rubio, and 59-34 percent for Trump.

....

Meanwhile, just five percent said they would not support Cruz, who got the best numbers in that category:
The voters said the economy and jobs are the most important issues determining who will get their vote, 24 percent of the voters said, followed by 15 percent on terrorism and foreign policy, 11 percent on the federal deficit, and 10 percent for immigration.

...

Cruz, though, was deemed best on foreign policy by 24 percent, followed by 18 percent for Trump, 15 percent for Rubio, and 8 percent for Bush. Carson and Paul each had six percent.

Yet another pre-configured “poll”. Is there any REAL poll that is accurate? NO! I’ll believe the poll that is taken in Nov. 2016, the day AFTER the election.

*Trump, 25 percent;
•Cruz, 23 percent;
•Dr. Ben Carson, 18 percent;
•Sen. Marco Rubio, 13 percent;

As Carson drops back, I suspect Cruz will pick up most of his support.

I have to agree with that chart. If Rubio’s immigration rating was good I would be voting for him. I think he has the best chance of beating Hillary. As it is, I will be voting for Cruz.

Cruz IS conservative, I don’t doubt. But I also don’t doubt that his policies are shaped by his donors.

He’s been too silent on illegal immigration for most of the campaign. And now he’s very vague about the illegals here. I’ve escaped 2 ruined border states and don’t want the rest of the country destroyed.

I will support the guy I’ve supported all along, Trump. I think only he has the ability and the ingenuity to outmaneuver the Washington insider crowd and the donors, since he doesn’t rely on either.

I don’t. I think it will be evenly split between him and Trump, and the MOE of this poll could mean that all that happened was that Carson and Cruz switched places, just as much earlier Rubio and Carson switched places.

Sorry, forgot to fix all the apostrophes!

I dictate into Word, since I am physically limited with my arms, then copy into FR. Dictating directly isn’t supported and is more trouble than it’s worth.

Why would you say “best chance” when ALL of the GOP candidates are being shown to beat Hillary, and while Trump leads her in a half-dozen key “swing” states like PA, MN, CO, NC, FL?

Not only doesn’t he rely on them, he exposes them for what they really are - liberals and hypocrites and traitors.

Obviously you are looking to bait the Trump supporters in this forum. But it might surprise you to learn that the majority of Trump supporters have no problem with Ted Cruz winning the nomination fair and square. Either way, we win.

What a refreshing change from past election cycles when the GOP establishment always found a way to maneuver their hand-picked RINO into the nomination (Romney; McCain; Bush; Dole; Bush).

Looks like it won't happen this year.
