A warplane crashed in Syria's northwestern Turkmen town of Bayirbucak near Turkey’s border on Tuesday, Turkish security sources said.

It remains unclear to which country the aircraft belongs to.

Turkish Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar and Turkish Foreign Minister Feridun Sinirlioglu briefed Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu following the crash.

According to a media outlet’s footage of the downed aircraft, the pilots could be seen ejecting safely before the aircraft hit the ground in a huge of plume of smoke.

What to say about this?

Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin:

We are here, in Russia, to carry out the best ideals of Holy Russia , the Caliphate, the Soviet Union, i.e. systems that defy injustice and the dictates of narrow elites over the will of the peoples.

It is necessary that the best people are seeking to reorganize the world, and come to us in Russia and work with us.

A U.S. military spokesman confirmed that Turkey warned the Russian pilots repeatedly before shoot down, but they did not respond, Reuters news agency reported.

“We were able to hear everything that was going on, these (communications) were on open channels,” military spokesman Colonel Steve Warren said.

Asked if he could confirm reports 10 warnings were issued by Turkish pilots without response, Warren said: “I can confirm that, yes.” He added it was not immediately clear on which side of the Turkish-Syrian border the Russian jet had been flying.

If Hurriyet's summary is correct, seems Turks told Russians on Friday what even the tiniest violation would provoke.

Turkey is basically "protecting ethnic Turks living in Syria", why does that sound so familiar?

I hope the pilots have enough carbon credits to cover the CO2 released when the plane crashed.

Finally someone understands the true threat here.

If you read this you get the impression that the bombing of the Metrojet was instigated by the Russsian Orthodox church:

When I asked him if he felt even a modicum of responsibility for the death of Russian vacationers over Egypt, Chaplin looked up from the pile of documents that he had been signing off on throughout our conversation. “The plane crash in Egypt was necessary for Russian society,” he said. “Society saw death and realized that life in pursuit of entertainment, material well-being, holidays, and so on, is the incorrect way to live. This is an absurd way to live. If a person does not understand this, then God will remind him of it.”

It was an astonishing statement for one of the Russian Orthodox Church’s most high-profile representatives to make in the wake of a period of national mourning. I double-checked that he actually wanted to go on record saying that the loss of over 200 lives, including those of some 20 children, had a positive side. Chaplin clarified, but the overall gist remained the same: “Wars and catastrophes are necessary to keep people from becoming too convinced that they need to build lives for themselves here, on earth. That is a false belief. So while we feel sorry for those people who died, for the rest of society, yes, this was necessary.”
