I grew up near the AFB in Amarillo and loved
driving by the base and seeing the Buffs with
their high tails. My ex-BIL went to the AF
academy and ended up being a B-52 pilot.

I don't know nuthin' but this looks like a tremendous launch platform that greatly extends the range of ordnance and reduces time to target.

Imagine how history might have taken a different turn if the Air Force had gone with the competitor to the B-52,
the Convair successor to the B-36, the YB-60? A shame that none of the original prototypes are still around.
