It did happen, and I saw it.
Donald Trump is telling the truth about Muslims celebrating in New Jersey on September 11, 2001.
I drove with family members though Patterson, N.J. that morning, after the planes hit. It's not the kind of thing you forget.
We witnessed people in traditional Muslim garb dancing, jumping, shouting and celebrating like their team had won the Super Bowl, just as Trump said.
"I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down," Trump said Saturday. "And I watched in Jersey City, N.J., where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering."
Trump has refused to back off of those comments. He told ABC's George Stephanopoulos Sunday, "it did happen. I saw it."
Media outlets and politicians have been quick to call the Republican presidential front-runner a liar but the fact is it happened just like he said.
I didn't see thousands of Muslims celebrating but I absolutely saw a pocket, perhaps 100, jumping for joy at the sight of the smoke rising from where the Twin Towers used to be.
The funny part of the media-made controversy is that until Trump recalled his experience on that day, these events were a commonly accepted fact by Jerseyans.
Others in N.J. have spoken about witnessing these events.

Just in. I am looking at a picture of the WTC with smoke pouring out of the western tower. Looks like a huge amount of damage. Debris raining down on people in the street.

Geez - TV 10 in Philly said tonight they combed through two and a half hours of their film from 9/11 and couldn’t find any indications of such goings-on - of course the fact that they probably were never near Jersey City or Patterson never entered their reporting - MSM will pull any sort of specious, demagogic argument to try to support their biases.....
On 9/11 I saw Muslims stick their hands out of their car to make the victory symbol as they drove past the still smouldering Pentagon. I’m sure the one’s in NJ were no more discreet.
Same tactic with the Holocaust deniers. "The Nazis didn't kill 6-million Jews, etc." I ask them, "OK, so how many were killed? 5-mil, 4-mil, "only" 1-mil, 100,000? What is your threshold for outrage?"
Deer in headlights - or, a shift in topic.
I could see the two issues being conflated as well after I re-watched that footage, which is available on YouTube.
I believe there were some smaller muslim celebrations in the US that were briefly reported on as well, but whatever archive footage exists (if any) will not be acknowledged or released by the MSM. That would bolster Trump’s position regardless of size and we can’t have that.
I think he may have overblown what was going on in the US, but I can neither prove nor disprove his claim because I wasn’t there.
