Looks to me like retired folks...

Sure the number 2 is lawyers/law firms, of course its only 20% of what the retirees gave... and RIGHT behind the law firms is Misc. Business followed closely by the healthcare industry, and finally Securities & Investment rounds out the top 5 groups.

I would HARDLY describe him as being in the pocket for any particular industry... looks fairly well balanced as far as campaign contributions are concerned...

As far as geographic breakdown is concerned:

Top Metro Areas

HOUSTON $3,593,653
DALLAS $1,280,609
FORT WORTH-ARLINGTON $528,497
AUSTIN-SAN MARCOS $519,517
ODESSA-MIDLAND $485,922
LOS ANGELES-LONG BEACH $390,405
SAN ANTONIO $357,872
WASHINGTON, DC-MD-VA-WV $334,487
NEW YORK $308,769
CHICAGO $196,864

I guess he might be beholden to Texas interests... but then again, he is one of the current sitting Senators... so it should be expected most of his money will come from here...

And when you look at contributions to all candidates you will find many of the same groups in more or less the same order. Much like Trump said that he did, they give to everyone (not in the same amounts but they all certainly hedge their bets to some extent so they can attempt calling in future favors no matter who the winner is).

Retired folks at number 1 is the only one that really surprises me. It shows that Cruz is, first and foremost, a man of the people. The exact opposite of what our local Cruz troll is saying.

Thanks for the list!
