Oh no. If this is true, he suckered a lot of voters today. I feel for them because Vitter is so awful and they had a horrible choice and with Edwards looking like a good decent candidate they fell for it. Such a shame.

Jefferson Parish turned on Vitter.
As a state Rep in a minority party he was allowed to build up votes and be safe.
He is going to be terrible for Louisiana.
Gov has closed to within 10, but doesn’t look good.
Landry? At 57% right now! Governor Landry in 4 years.
Vitter supported that idiotic GOPe effort for Thad Cochran in Louisiana. Can’t get too excited about him.

I thank God I didn’t have to vote in this election. I don’t know what I would have done. Tough choice. My choices were to vote for Vitter and then vomit all over the place or keep the top spot empty.

I made a spreadsheet with the primary results, and am comparing those to tonight’s election as the results come in.
As of right now, Vitter has 53% of the reported vote in Jefferson Parish.
In the primary, the 3 R candidates got a combined 63% of that vote.
Not good, indeed.
Dems obviously didn’t do their bit for Caldwell, failed to instruct their voters. LOL.
Vitter concedes, won’t run for Senate next year.
It ain’t happening. My quick math tells me that Vitter need to get 65% or 70% of the remaining votes.

Top 4 parishes in the primary with the most votes cast were East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Orleans, and St. Tammany. EBR went 51% Dem, Orleans went 76% Dem. Those 2 parishes have only reported about 1/3 of their votes so far tonight. Jefferson is not producing as it should, and St. Tammany doesn’t have the numbers. Unfortunately, I think this is over.
That was when Sen. Knowland and Gov. Goodwin Knight tried to exchange jobs in the worst GOP year for Senate races since the popular vote was instituted, and both lost. Had both stayed put, given 1958, they might’ve lost anyway (to Pat Brown and Clair Engle respectively).
At least if Vitter loses, he keeps his Senate seat.
