14 Presidents served as Vice President before assuming office; all but one of those served as V.P. immediately before becoming President.

Nine of those became president through the death of the previous president and I'm assuming you don't want Cruz to gain the White House that way. Only two sitting vice presidents have been elected president in the last 200 years - George H. W. Bush and Martin Van Buren. It most certainly is not a path to the presidency.

Truman, Nixon, Ford, Johnson just to name a few.

Three of those became president on the death or resignation of their predecessor. I'd rather Cruz did not get the White House under those circumstances. The fourth did not go from the vice-presidency to the presidency.

Eight years of Trump followed by 8 years of Cruz.

I so reached for a like button, but I guess I have to do it this way.

That would be my dream and would completely turn this country around. Those two could do it.

You have it exactly backwards.

Statistically, Trump has no chance at the nomination, thus he is relegated to the Perot II slot.

Cruz, on the other hand has been handed victory by the attacks in Paris, and around the world, and subsequent events will further solidify his dominance in these times.

The same times that so superbly demonstrate that we cannot take a chance on an inexperienced and vacillating novice like Trump.

Turning away from Trump’s inexperience and vacillation on positions is not a “dirty trick,” it is common sense in these perilous times.

But it’s not patronizing or condescending at all of you to label us ‘Trumpets.’

SMH.

The specter of a Trump presidency in these perilous times gives credence to the “prophecies” of the impending doom of the US.

I pray that not be so!

Consider the WWII era and beyond. Truman became president after the death of Roosevelt. Barkley chose to not run after failing to get support of Labor because of his age. Nixon lost to Kennedy but won the presidency eight years later. Johnson became President after the death Kennedy and won the following election. Ford became President after the resignation of Nixon. Mondale lost to Reagan. George H. W. Bush succeeded Reagan. Gore lost to Bush 43. Cheney did not run.

So of the nine VP since 1944, Truman, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, And Bush 41 became President at one point. Barkley, and Cheney chose not to run. Mondale and Gore lost and have not yet become President.

I hope Cruz is the VP is something should happen to Trump. If Trump bombs during the primaries then I want Cruz to win.

She would be running for VP of the United States, not the Confederate States.

Truman, Ford, and Johnson do not count, as they reached office by the death or resignation of the president.

Ford in particular, was totally rejected by the people.

Trump would need someone to be the shadow president, much like Obama.

Imagine 8 years of Trump followed by 8 years of Cruz.

I can't imagine the country surviving the next year.

Ted Cruz would absolutely eviscerate Hillary in a campaign and on the debate stage for the entire nation to see.

And Palin could have done the same to Obama. But as you recall the VP doesn't get to debate the other party's presidential candidate.
