Sanders: 'To hell with the fossil fuel industry'
The Hill ^ | 11/21/15 | Mark Hensch

Posted on 11/21/2015 3:35:05 PM PST by Libloather

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Saturday called for Republicans to abandon the corrupting influence of the Koch brothers and other wealthy energy magnates.

"This is a party that rejects science and refuses to understand that climate change is real," he said of GOP during the annual Blue Jamboree in North Charleston, S.C.

"I understand if you stand up to the Koch brothers and the fossil fuel industry, that you'll lose your campaign contributions," the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate added.

"[Climate change] is already causing devastating problems all over this world. To hell with the fossil fuel industry. Worry more about your children and your grandchildren than your campaign contributions."

Sanders linked wealthy energy interests with overall corporate power, arguing that Wall Street must improve society.

"When Wall Street went broke, they came begging to Congress for help. Now it's Wall Street's turn to bail out the middle class of this country," he said.

"While people are working so hard, what is going on all is that almost all of the income and wealth that is being created is going to the top 1 percent," Sanders continued. "That is not what America is about."

The Koch brothers' vast donor network spent $129 million during the 2014 election cycle, according to an IRS filing released Tuesday.

That amount is more than five times the $22.3 million David and Charles Koch spent in 2013, the IRS filing said.

The siblings' political network has previously committed $889 million towards conservative and libertarian principles during the 2016 presidential election.

Charles Koch has suggested about $250 million of that amount is for defeating Democrats during next year's White House and Congressional races.

Sanders has long decried the influence the Kochs and other energy moguls play in working against tackling climate change.

"When you have people like the Koch brothers and ExxonMobil today spending huge amounts of money trying to deny that reality, it slows up the entire world from aggressively addressing what is an international crisis," he said late last month. "This is serious stuff."

Maxine Waters warns Shell president in House committee hearing

Posted: May 23, 2008
2008 WorldNetDaily

A report by Fox News, captured in a clip posted on YouTube.com (Must see video! here ) , showed Waters challenging the president of Shell Oil, John Hofmeister, to guarantee the prices consumers pay will go down if the oil companies are allowed to drill wherever they want off of U.S. shores.

Hofmeister replied: "I can guarantee to the American people, because of the inaction of the United States Congress, ever-increasing prices unless the demand comes down."

The Shell exec said paying $5 at the pump "will look like a very low price in the years to come if we are prohibited from finding new reserves, new opportunities to increase supplies."

Waters responded, in part, "And guess what this liberal would be all about. This liberal will be about socializing ... uh, um..."

The congresswoman paused to collect her thoughts [for about 5-6 seconds this went on, while her colleagues behind her laughed].

"...would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies..."

The oil executives responded, according to Fox News, by saying they've seen this before, in Hugo Chavez's Venezuela.

And so we return to the Roman era of .... slaves and mules.

And the mules and horses were treated better than the slaves.

To hell with the fossil fuel industry.

Ok Bernie, lead by example. No more cars, planes, busses. WALK EVERYWHERE.

No more heated hotel rooms, sleep in a tent. Not just any tent, a cloth tent made by hand. Can't be sleeping in a tent that contains any petroleum based products or was machine made can we? Why, that'd mean energy was used, likely from OIL, to make that tent.

No more hot food for you either Bernie. Unless you can chop down the wood and build a fire to cook over --- no more petroleum based heating oil or natural gas for you. Unless you fart. You can fart, light that, and cook with your lit farts --- not sure you'll like that aftertaste though. On second thought, with your head so far up your ass Bernie it's unlikely you'll be able to tell the difference!

[[To hell with the fossil fuel industry.]]

He says AFTER he was driven to the event, and uses electricity all day long, etc etc etc

Biting the nose off to spite the face- not too brilliant there Bernie old boy- How bout you start making candles, start riding a bike, get rid of your cell phone, cancel your electricity, refuse to accept rides in vehicles, give up yer internets, stop buying food in supermarkets because they are delivered via fossil fuel fueled vehicles, refuse to buy ANYTHING in markets because fossil fuels make them possible- Live off the land completely- then get back to us in a couple of years decrying the evils of fossils fuels again-

Lead by example sir!

TYPICAL Libertarian/liberal HYPOCRITE

While people are working so hard, what is going on all is that almost all of the income and wealth that is being created is going to the top 1 percent,” Sanders continued.
“And that 1% is not able to sleep at night because their
mattresses are so lumpy from all that cash!”

Can someone explain to this moron how fossil fuels have benefited humanity to an almost incalculable degree.Automobiles, mass transportation of people and services. Home heating. Air transportation simply does not happen by solar power. And that does not even mention the benefits of plastics and other synthetic materials. Moron doesn't even begin to cover it.

lol.

All I read was blah blah blah.

However, when the 1 percent get SO MUCH MORE wealthier than everyone else, that can lead to oligarchy and almost a feeling that we the people are serfs to them.

Also, financial crooks like Fiorina made a fortune at the cost of the average stockholder, who THEN had to bail the banks out with their tax dollars!

Other than those issues, he’s an insane perverted old hippie marxist communist hypocrite. Last I checked, he wasn’t living in a trailer park or project.

The more the oil companies try to buy off people like Sanders, the more they’ll get of this garbage.

Isn’t Sanders enough of a “fossil” already?

Bit of trivia: The Communist Party of the Soviet Union started out as the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party. So this is what Sanders is admitting himself to be.

>>”[Climate change] is already causing devastating problems all over this world. To hell with the fossil fuel industry. Worry more about your children and your grandchildren than your campaign contributions.”

Even if climate change was caused by fossil fuels, the benefits of portable, high energy density fuels would far outweigh the effects of a couple degrees of temperature rise. A world without fossil fuels is a world without air conditioning, refrigeration, and the freedom of movement over great distances.

Most importantly, it is a world where the 99%ers suffer while the Elites pay servants to fan them. Is this Sanders’ dream for humanity??
