Ah! But you're conflating two different questions there.

Christianity is not scary, but Christians, are!

While I could rattle off an entire laundry list of "why," suffice to say factionalization is bad enough, but when each of those factions is convinced, without specific authorization from God, that they nevertheless have His imprimatur, you have the perfect medium for pride to grow, and from pride...all the things pride leads to.

Papertyger, Thanks for the explanation. I do see what you are saying now and can somewhat agree.

BTW.... My “specific authorization from God” is the Holy Scriptures (the Bible) which is the living WORD of God.... nothing less and nothing more. And even there, I guess we have to account for possible mis-translations from the original manuscripts.
