Woodrow Wilson, Progressive Bogeyman
National Review ^ | November 20th, 2015 | John Fund

Posted on 11/20/2015 3:36:07 PM PST by ProgressingAmerica

The racially charged protests that have roiled 23 universities from Yale to the University of Missouri in recent weeks reached Princeton on Wednesday.

Members of the Black Justice League left their classes and occupied historic Nassau Hall, which houses the Princeton administration's offices. They demanded that officials acknowledge the racist legacy of Woodrow Wilson - who was president of Princeton before becoming president of the United States and expunge his name from anything named after him. They further demanded "cultural competency training" for anyone teaching at Princeton, courses on the "history of marginalized people," and a designated public space for the exclusive use of black students.

...

It was perhaps inevitable that the progressive protesters would eventually start demanding that progressive icons be airbrushed out of history. It is particularly difficult for Democrats and liberals to give up Wilson, who has long been honored for promoting progressive causes such as the Federal Reserve Act and the progressive income tax. Wilson was the first major progressive hero to advocate scrapping the "checks and balances" view of the Constitution. "All that progressives ask or desire is permission - in an era when 'development,' 'evolution' is the scientific word - to interpret the Constitution according to the Darwinian principle."

Its why our constitution allows amendments rather than replacement. So we can see what it was before it was amended.

You know.. the famous evil line per the left “Are you now or ever been a communist?”...

If I was going to ask a leftist today....I would sneak up on it by starting off asking a leftist progressive first

Are you now or ever been a member of the KKK or approve of their actions or aided their goals?

Are you now or ever been a member of the Nazi Party and or approve of their actions or aided their goals?

Are you now or ever been a member of the Communist Party or approved of their actions or aided their goals?

see the left when you asking about them being a communist
.. scream about how terrible it is to ask about someones politics..

So ask them about other politics the left would have no problems asking someone about

Simply by naming themselves “The Black Justice League” they are declaiming themselves to e a racist organization.

THE BIRTH OF A NATION

Excerpt: “African-American audiences openly wept at the film’s malicious portrayal of blacks, while Northern white audiences cheered.”

please go after the Democrat Party, snowflakes, for its has a racist history and helped create the KKK!!!

DemoKKKrats are the party responsible for these most shameful moments in American history:

The Trail of Tears (1838): The first Democrat President, Andrew Jackson and his successor Martin Van Buren, herded Indians into camps, tormented them, burned and pillaged their homes and forced them to relocate with minimal supplies. Thousands died along the way.

Democrats Cause The Civil War (1860): The pro-slavery faction of the Democrat Party responded to Abraham Lincoln’s election by seceding, which led to the Civil War.

Formation of the KKK (1865): Along with 5 other Confederate veterans, Democrat Nathan Bedford Forrest created the KKK.

300 Black Americans Murdered (1868): “Democrats in Opelousas, Louisiana killed nearly 300 blacks who tried to foil an assault on a Republican newspaper editor.”

The American Protective League and The Palmer Raids (1919-1921):Under the leadership of Woodrow Wilson, criticizing the government became a crime and a fascist organization, the American Protective League was formed to spy on and even arrest fellow Americans for being insufficiently loyal to the government. More than 100,000 Americans were arrested, with less than 1% of them ever being found guilty of any kind of crime.

Democrats Successfully Stop Republicans From Making Lynching A Federal Crime (1922): “The U.S. House adopted Rep. Leonidas Dyer’s (R., Mo.) bill making lynching a federal crime. Filibustering Senate Democrats killed the measure.”

The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment (1932-1972): Contrary to what you may have heard, Democrats in Alabama did not give black Americans syphilis. However, the experimenters did know that subjects of the experiment unknowingly had syphilis and even after it was proven that penicillin could be used to effectively treat the disease in 1947, the experiments continued. As a result, a number of the subjects needlessly infected their loved ones and died, when they could have been cured.

Japanese Internment Camps (1942): Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt issued an executive order that led to more than 100,000 Japanese Americans being put into “bleak, remote camps surrounded by barbed wire and armed guards.”

Fire Hoses And Attack Dogs Used On Children (1963): Birmingham, Alabama’s notorious Commissioner of Public Safety, Democrat Bull Connor, used attack dogs and fire hoses on children and teenagers marching for civil rights. Ultimately, thousands of them would also be arrested.

Stand In The Schoolhouse Door (1963): Democrat George Wallace gave his notorious speech against integrating schools at the University of Alabama in which he said, “segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever.”

"We need to keep Wilson's socialist legacy alive as a warning to future generations."

I can help with that.

While I have no love lost for Wilson, history is what it is. The flood gates are opening and what will be next - students demanding George Washington U remove his name from their school?

Woodrow Wilson was a skunk. But you can't just erase the past. Instead, how about teaching a little real history?

OK, here's a quote from ol' Woody:

"There are no government positions for Negroes in the South. A Negro's place in the corn field"

If that ever thought Wilson was bad, they should read Darwin. He had some theories on race that one might not believe in this age.

Exactly. The delicate soap bubbles are just now learning of the racist, slave holding, Jim Crow, segregationist, KKK, black lynching history of the Democrat party. Well, better late than never.

Hey soap bubbles, why do you think the Democrats want to locate abortuaries in minority neighborhoods? Think!

I agree with you as a matter of actual policy but as a rhetorical response to these moonbats I’d like to tell them...

“OK, let’s erase Wilson then erase all Progressives from our history and make Progressivism illegal from here on forward. Mmmm’Kay?”

I have to laugh about it, but the cancer of liberalism is nothing to laugh about. It is toxic to rationality.

That is why you see all this insane behavior, someone is black because they FEEL black, someone wants to be a woman because they FEEL like a woman, letting people in among us who mean to do us harm, everything about liberalism is Orwellian.

I've no illusions about Dr. Wilson's racism and dangerous ideas about improving la Raza, under the careful guidance of central planners of course, but will these children, these wannabe-Marxist revisionists next be suggesting the former president's remains be exhumed from their Presbyterian sacristy in Washington, and his head, placed on a pike, or simply hung and burned, as was Cromwell?

History, warts and all.. Comfort zones be damned!

Laughing about liberalism is not the same as laughing at liberals and I’m all about the latter. When it comes to the ballot box I will vote my principles but when it comes to the public square I no longer feel any compunction about twisting a liberal’s mind around a chain saw bar and pulling the starter cord. So to speak.
