GOP Operative Plans ‘Guerrilla Campaign’ Against Donald Trump

A well-connected GOP operative alarmed by the enduring strength of Republican Donald Trump's presidential bid is planning a "guerrilla campaign" backed by secret donors to knock him out of the race.

Liz Mair, former online communications director of the Republican National Committee, recently created Trump Card LLC to "defeat and destroy" the celebrity businessman's candidacy, according to a memo obtained by The Wall Street Journal.

"In the absence of our efforts, Trump is exceedingly unlikely to implode or be forced out of the race," the Trump Card memo says. "The stark reality is that unless something dramatic and unconventional is done, Trump will be the Republican nominee and Hillary Clinton will become president."

An increasing number of Republicans are concerned that Mr. Trump's inflammatory rhetoric about different minority groups, including Hispanics and Muslims, are damaging the party's image and will undermine efforts to reach a broader electorate in a general election. Expectations that his campaign would fizzle out have been dashed as he has remained atop the polls since the summer.

The anti-Trump crusade aims to unite contributors who are backing a variety of the Republican primary candidates, Ms. Mair said. Opposition research, grass roots organizing and donor outreach has been going on for weeks, Ms. Mair said, while declining to name any supporters.

"It"s loosely organized and highly confidential," said Ms. Mair. "I certainly know donors who are very happy that their fingerprints will be kept off things."

The establishment is as dumb as we have always suspected if they think this will work. By attacking Trump, they are proving his point and solidifying his support. The best way to stop Trump (or Carson) would be to treat those outsiders as legitimate candidates and stick to the issues. Then each candidate would stand or fall based on their positions rather than based on the degree to which decent people despise the establishment leaders of both parties. Being fair still might not stop Trump, but it’s the strategy with the best odds.

This woman is something else, isn't she?

I'm thankful that Scott Walker had the knowledge to fire her from his campaign...shows he at least has good taste...

Isn't it sad that people have to lower their standards like this to try and get their point across, when in fact all it does is lower them to the gutter...and who ever agrees with these tactics that are supporting who ever in the campaign that agrees with this, is lowering their candidates reputation along with it...

If you are a supporter of a candidate, don't lower your standards, it brings down your candidate to lower levels, I don't always agree with what others write, but remember, these people are talking about all the candidates and are being fueled by the GOPe, media and talking heads, and they say things about your candidates that upsets them all...

Do these RINOs actually believe Conservatives will fall for their phony reason for attacking Trump? We know the crony corporatists/Chamber of Commerce hogs who regularly feed at the government give-away money trough are in panic mode like a junkie who knows he will no longer get his next fix when Trump becomes President. Breaking the symbiotic, in bed relationship between this organized criminal enterprise is going to require a knock down drag out fight.

Why don’t these beltway RINOs worry about winning the Presidency instead of sabotaging a conservative candidate they don’t like?

“...actually fighting for your stated positions is not a good thing.”

Actually, that’s not it all. RINO’s lie about what they what they intend to do until they get elected. After they are in office they do the exact opposite of what they promised and instead do the will of the big donors that financed their campaigns. They are already bought and paid for before they get elected. But Trump will do exactly what he says. They can’t buy and then control him. That’s what this is all about.
