“You can’t yell fire in a crowded theater either.”

I believe it may be allowed if the theater is on fire.

Shrewd to get out in front of it. The lawsuit thing isn’t much of a threat, but starting to frame the narrative now is smart.

I’m not saying lies should get promoted, but I have never seen a campaign season where a candidate files a lawsuit against another candidate for making an attack ad. I’m starting to think that Trump is really thin skinned and I used to like the guy a lot, although he was never my top choice.

the irony of a Trumpanzee whining and crying about bullying is just too rich.
Wooo. You're such an intellectual writer.
D: you really think threatening legal action is a conservative thing to do?
Apparently you, like Rove and the rest of GOPe, think the "conservative thing to do" is bend over and take it.

He said if Kasich lies, they’ll sue.

If Kasich engages in libel and slander, then yes Trump should sue, so if that was the point he was trying to make then I get it. I would really like to see the ad, although Kasich is such a creepy dude, I feel dirty defending him.

This is also a shot across the bow of Yahoo, NYTimes, WSJ, and AP for who are spreading the Trump/Nazi lies (muslim database).

IF you were a Trump supporter, you would understand why it feels so empowering and downright hopeful to have a candidate who is not afraid to fight back against the true bullies.......THE OTHER SIDE.....and that includes our present administration.....the media.....other candidates .....Soros.....’celebrities’......etc,

IT FEELS GOOD.

it felt GOOD when Trump’s spokesman told the snarly reporters to ‘get back in their pen’ when they stepped out of bounds trying to get negative news on Trump at the recent rally.

It’s been a LONG LONG time since someone liked..... WE THE PEOPLE !
We LOVE that he has our back
We have his back too!!!!!

I know you don’t even want to understand this....

..and nothing I will say will convince you.

I hope you are not from .....the other side
....but you sure sound like them when you post this stuff

Free speech DOES allow one to tell lies in public about others, within the constraints of 5 or 6 types of lies. Moreover, suits on defamation as to public figures are very difficult to win.

Yes and it wasn’t true...he never said that...I showed that earlier...

He said that all people need to come in ‘legally’ and some people don’t understand that...

GO TRUMP GO!!!

If it’s libel and slander it’s not free speech, and we won’t know until we see the ads. The problem I have, is that it seems Kasich is being put on notice before running an attack ad to take Trump out in New Hampshire, which is the point of a campaign – to knock out your opponent. If the campaign ad contains no distortions about Trump, then this notice seems frivolous, unnecessary and contributes to Donnie’s strong man image.

I think for a public figure, the standard for libel is much higher and there must be an element of ‘actual malice’. Perhaps some freeper lawyers can help here.

However, tortuous interference against Trump’s business would be much easier to win a case on , I think.

Kaisch better be careful.

What do y’all think?

Apparently you, like Rove and the rest of GOPe, think the "conservative thing to do" is bend over and take it.

Others have made this same argument so I've tried to find out what "it" is. Evidently there is NOTHING yet to even know if the ads to be are "false, misleading, defamatory ..." If Kasich is irrelevant (he is), why the attention on ads that aren't even out yet?

From Trump's attorney's letter:

"Please be advised that in the event your ads contain any false, misleading, defamatory or otherwise tortious statements or representations concerning Mr. Trump's business or his brand, we will not hesitate to seek immediate legal action,"

Civil. huh?

Address that point to your fellow Trump supporters, who used the term “bile”, “vile”, and “less than classy” for me. Let me be clear, I don’t care what you throw my way; I can absorb it like a big girl.

However, seeing as that kind of remark originated with your fellows in response to my observation that Trump will melt down-—as he has a tendency to do, has done before, and in fact is the subject of this thread-—I think you should look to cleaning your own house.

And putting other candidates and their super PAC's on notice.

People who are looking at this as some kind of legal issue or some kind of Trump rage-fit aren’t getting it. This is a political tactic to get in front of the narrative and put the PAC on the defensive and appear in a bad light before they even start.

Over and over again people underestimate Trump — to their own detriment. The Cruz campaign is smart to not play the game. Trump is the master of political ju-jitsu, and throwing oneself at him is just stupid.

A Trump tweet from last night.

“John Kasich was managing director of Lehman Brothers when it crashed, bringing down the world and ruining people’s lives. A total failure!”

Expect that to be heard at the next debate.

I love Cruz and it’s a total embarrassment for him. They do him harm with their foul, low class antics. He would never associate with them as he has dignity and class.

No libel and slander is not free speech – I completely agree.
