Republicans have Obama in a corner on Syrian refugees
VOX ^ | 19 Nov 15 | Dara Lind

The Obama administration has a big Syrian refugee problem.

The House of Representatives just voted to approve a bill that would allegedly require three top administration officials, including the FBI director, to approve every individual Syrian refugee asking to enter the US. The administration argues that the bill would essentially stop America from taking in any Syrians at all. But it can't even convince members of the president's own party: The bill passed the House with a veto-proof majority.

Even if Senate Democrats hold the line against a veto override, that won't permanently solve the problem. It's looking extremely likely that congressional Republicans will demand changes to Syrian refugee policy as a condition for keeping the government open past December 11. And unlike past shutdown threats, this is one congressional Democrats might actually go along with

More evidence that Obama's failed policies in Syria and in the war against terrorism are failing and unconvincing even to his party.

The GOPe will give it all back, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. And they are still baffled by Trump.

I’m not defending the GOPe, but this one has support across the border with Tea Party Republicans and many Democrats. Obama will have to shutdown the government to get his way on letting refugees in. As the article explains, even then the Democrats in the House probably won’t go along due to the bad politics of it with next year’s election. So if you think this is bad work for the GOPe, I would say it’s a step in the right direction.

This is more of their bogus “humor the voter” manipulation. The refugee program should be defunded. It should’ve been defunded when the Tsarnov lads blew up the finish line of the Boston Marathon!

Eyes rolled on that one... The senate won’t approve, and it will go back and forth til it is watered down and even providing special privileges to the Paris bomber wannabes.

I suspect that people are burning up the phones to the congresscritters. I’ve called Durbin’s office several times (he’s close to being the worst hack in the Senate).

I agree. The dam has burst within his own party. Politicians fear one thing more than anything else - voters angry about what they're doing. Obama doesn't care about that because all criticism of his policies was classified and impugned as racism, and he's not running again. But the Party that he putatively leads has been getting pounded since 2012. Now, see this article and see that even his own party realizes his policies are a failure.

Exactly. The poor kid, the eight year old boy blown up, should have been Obamas last American kill. Sadly, it won’t be. He has allowed thousand of ISIS in since then.

I’m not confident the senate will get enough defectors and thus Shady Harry will likely keep Obama from even having to veto.

I’d like to think there were Dems who place national security ahead of party but history doesn’t allow my hopes to get up too high on this.

I think it’s bubbling up from state capitols. State senators are betting an earful, like if my family gets hit, we are going to have a little face time, and you’ll wish I was ISIS. This is bubbling up to DC.

I think we both will agree on this. Make Democrats vote and show where they stand on this issue. Don’t hesitate and get defeatist because the Democrats might not put the American people ahead of the Obama agenda.

I don’t believe he is a bumbling fool. I believe he has successfully changed America. She is no longer the country she once was. The question is she too far gone to survive him?

The open borders crowd keeps squirming when we poke them.

Settle for nothing less than an immigration moratorium for minimum five years.

If Harry Ried blocks this, when we get hit, all Democrats will be celebrated like the cock roaches that they are. They know it.

CALL CONGRESS NOW: 202-224-3121

MESSAGE: We need to hear you loudly opposing bringing Syrian (and other) refugees into our communities.

Americans are through being suckers for foreigners who have no interest in contributing to our nation.

Besides killing us, their intent is to get-rich quich on our tax dollars....sucking off the backs of struggling taxpayers and gorge themselves at the welfare trough.

<><> Demand that Congress suspend all Refugee Resettlement Programs until the Government Accountability Office conducts an audit on the program's cost.

<><>Demand Congress cease tax dollar grants to states to resume refugee resettlement.

<><> Demand Congress throw out the Social Security "asylum" ripoff which enables refugees to pocket hefty monthly SS checks without having paid a dime into the system.

======================================

REFERNCE--NTL REVIEW/BY DAVID HANSON----The Boston Bomber Muslim refugees offer us a teachable moment about what have become near-suicidal US immigration policies not being enforced---that are on the books:

(1) that foreign nationals must at least avoid crime,

(2) stay off public assistance,

(3) that the US is disinclined to grant "asylum" (triggers endless SS checks) to fearful refugees from war-torn Islamic regions,

(4) that force taxpayers to foot the bill for these types to go back and forth between America and their supposedly "hostile Muslim homelands" on the taxpayers' dime.

=================================

NOTE: the entire Tsarnev family collected about $100,000 in public benfits while plotting the bombing....and the family was flown from Chechnya at taxpayer expense to attend the bomber trial.

Texas Clockmed's father traveled to his Muslim homeland at taxpayer expense to run for president. We demand to know if tax dollars paid the family's expenses to settle in Qatar....when they hightailed it out of Texas ...... unwilling to answer questions about their sources of income.

I agree it will swing, things will get better than they are right now, but will it swing far enough to save us in the long run? Don’t know.

Sounds good to me; what’s the problem?
