White House threatens to veto bill to halt Syrian refugees
The Hill ^ | 18 Nov 2015 | Jordan Fabian

The White House on Wednesday threatened to veto a House bill that would require additional security checks on Syrian refugees before they could be resettled in the United States.

"This legislation would introduce unnecessary and impractical requirements that would unacceptably hamper our efforts to assist some of the most vulnerable people in the world, many of whom are victims of terrorism," the Office of Management and Budget said in a statement.

President Obama has engaged in a war of words with Republicans over allowing Syrian refugees entry into the country.

Republicans in the House and Senate have argued that in the wake of last week's terrorist attacks on Paris, there should be a "pause." The House is set to vote on legislation Thursday that would block any refugees from Syria or Iraq from being resettled in the U.S. unless the FBI, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Director of National Intelligence can certify to Congress that each person does not pose a security threat.

In its veto threat, the White House said the House bill "is untenable and would provide no meaningful additional security for the American people, instead serving only to create significant delays and obstacles" for people fleeing the conflict in Syria."

That a-hole has dismissed the safety of the nation in the face of overwhelming evidence and publicly thrown his lot in with the jihadis.

But they aren't fleeing the confict in Syria. Most are refugees living in camps in Turkey and Jordan. And, since Obama has recently stated, "ISIS is contained." Then why can't they go back to their home, Syria?"

I Barrack Hussein Obama do solemnly swear to protect against enemies both foreign and domestic.

He should be fired for violating his oath of office.

Republicans see the Syrians as potential terrorists.

Democrats see the Syrians as potential voters.

Then let him veto it, put it in the record and when Americans die by the hands of Syrian refugees, let him answer to it. There won’t be a video to blame it on this time.

Send it up, let him veto it.

Then he (and his Dem allies) owns any terrorist attack that comes of this.

Our President is a Muslim. He has accepted the idea of a Caliphate in the Near East centered on Turkey. He agreed to that BEFORE he was elected President. All you need do to affirm that is look at his past treatment of Turkey, even before he was elected.

That is why he referred to the U.S. as a Muslim nation. He is purposefully bringing in terrorist jihadiis to start a war, a civil war.

Seems like a contradictory statement to me. Delays and obstacles are meaningful security elements. Isn’t that idea behind concrete barricades at gate entrances?

I can only pray if blood MUST flow it’s profoundly from New England (read: Neo-Euro) states at a level that’s stunning even to the most die-hard New Englanders.

Massachusetts is the root and the seed of the fowling of America..

Let us pray the root and the seed perish.

Are there any Democrats willing to protect the American people?

Only if you're gay, black, or a journalist.

Send them some place in the Middle East where there’s no
bombing & NO TREES! I read that they’re scared to stay
in countries where there are trees! Heck. Our house is right
under huge trees. The leaves in the autumn fall in huge
piles. The limbs & branches get blown off in a big wind or
storm. - They can’t stand trees; and they have to build
giant pyramids to try to make up for not having any
mountains anywhere. - No wonder they’re ill as hornets!
They’re afraid of TREES! And have to build fake hills to
make up for what’s lacking in their environs.
