Two days after the horrendous jihadist attacks in Paris, Pope Francis preached about the “end times,†encouraging his hearers to be vigilant and ready at any moment to meet God face to face.

He was following this Sunday’s Mass readings for this day and commenting on them. Most, if not all, Catholic churches follow the outline set forth for each day of the year and every year. Our Catholic Pastor went by these same scriptures today.
So, he didn’t pick the subject based on what happened in Paris.

We should ALWAYS be ready for the end times, regardless if things are peaceful or in turmoil. Jesus himself said he does not know the date or time of his return, only the Father knows. But he did give us some of the wrong signs that the time is near, and I believe we do see many of those signs taking place. That being said, if we are Christian and accept Christ as our only savior who brings redemption of our sins with God, we need not fear what is happening. We know it ends good for Gods people.

It was the scripture reading for this day - Catholic churches go by a daily, yearly schedule, and that was the scripture for today in all Catholic churches, so he wasn’t yelling FIRE - that scripture for this day has been in the printed Mass book all this year.

The premise of this thread title is bogus as though the Pope thinks the end is near right now. He was following the Mass book of scripture for this day. He didn’t say this event in Paris shows the end is near. Another one of the readings for today is the scripture no one knows the day or hour. The Pope was saying be ready for whenever it is. This is talked about every November in the Catholic Church with the Priests of the church saying be ready for Christ’s coming whenever it happens.
