As an Alaskan living next door to the Yukon and the western provinces, I can tell you that Trudeau, to the people of the Yukon, Alberta, and Manitoba, is going to be a curse word like you wouldn’t believe. They will hate him with a passion, similar to how the US “flyover country” feels about Obama.
This area of Canada is commodity dependent, producing the bulk of Canadian oil, it represents the conservative part of Canada.
Notice, I didn’t include the province of British Columbia with the conservative west, the bulk of their population being in the liberal left cities of Vancouver and Victoria, rules the rest of the province.
I seem to recall a shortlived groundswell of support some years ago for secession of the oil-producing provinces, with a view to joining the US.
