Exactly. I have started avoiding some webpages like breitbart. It’s 90% ads and 10% what I wanted to read in the first place.
I use Adblock Plus (& NoScript) .... it’s made Breitbart & Hot Air readable.
And the ads are mostly virus or malware. If they at least weed out the malware ones, then sure, ...maybe but that chance is as slim as me seeing all Victoria Secret models cook me lunch wearing just aprons.
I can’t even load breitbart in Pale Moon because of the ads. If I want to read the article bad enough, I use Chrome - with adblock.
When a page slows down your entire computer and takes minutes to load because of the ad load, they’re wrong.
Howsabout they just let the CONTENT load first??
There would be plenty of time to read the ads, too—they would be hard to miss alongside the text THAT YOU WANT TO READ.
I will not stare at a blank page ( under a headline or so) waiting for unknown crap too slow to download—and just leave.
I fully understand the need for revenue to support on-line content, but it doesn't have to be done in such an obnoxious, in-your-face style.
Use firefox with adblock plus.
Ad-Block Plus is what I use in Firefox. I use it to not only block ads but annoying photos of obama, clinton, pelosi etc.
Some sites also have giant photos of same and Ad-Block Plus gets rid of them. Briebart site is useful again once you start using Ad-Block Plus.
I’m looking at Breitbart right now & all I see is blank spaces where the ads would have appeared.
I installed an AdTrap box on my PC. About 90% of ads are blocked. Since the box is connected to my cable modem/wifi router, the ads are blocked BEFORE they reach my PC or anyone using wifi. Pages load much faster & Chrome rarely locks up or crashes anymore.
AdTrap is well worth the money.
Blank is beautiful!
