It turns out that Denver, Colorado may not be the only major American city seeing an increase in crime following marijuana legalization. Seattle, Washington looks to be experiencing some blowback as well.

According to the Drug Policy Alliance, "[a]dult possession of marijuana became legal [in Washington State] on December 6, 2012, 30 days after the passage of I-502, the voter-approved initiative legalizing marijuana for adults 21 and older. A year-and-a-half later, the first retail marijuana store opened its doors on July 8, 2014."

When we look at the number of total and property crimes in Seattle from 2008 through 2014, there are massive increases during 2013 and 2014 after adult possession of marijuana became legal during December 2012. The number of these crimes was stable or declining from 2008 through 2012, after which total crimes jumped 13 percent from 2012 to 2013. By the end of 2014, the number of total crimes was 24 percent higher than in 2012.

LOL! I must be a really bad person since I find humor in this. No doubt the dopers will have some incoherent 'splanation for this rise in crime. Dude!

Crime has been increasing all over the country. These stats would have more validity in that context.

I would say the larger-scale imposition of liberal values is the core reason.

what kind of ‘crime’?

That’s kind of an important fact to leave out here, isn’t it?

Here in my town, we have medical MJ stores. Several have been robbed, a couple of store workers killed.

The leftists never figured out that legalizing it was half the battle; the major issue with drugs for many people was the crime that stemmed from addicts that needed money to get them. Whether I buy it on a city corner or in a pharmacy, I still need the money to buy it. Did they think legalizing meant free drugs for all?

Now, now. There's no evidence to support the conclusion that these crimes are being committed to support a marijuana habit.

They could be being committed to support a food stamps habit. Or an ObamaCare habit. Or a free cell phone habit. Or a 15 dollar minimum wage habit. Or a welfare habit.

Wait. You don't suppose there's some sort of connection, do you? Nahhhhhhhhh.

Well, it kinda generalized over all crimes and property crimes. But yeah, no specific breakdown.

Didn’t Denver start blanket denials of CCW Permits about the same time?

Wait. You don't suppose there's some sort of connection, do you? Nahhhhhhhhh.

Well actually no statistically valid causation has been shown. Correlation does not imply causation. There was no valid comparable control city cited. It's this sort of garbage reporting that gets the credulous ignoramuses all stirred up.

“Correlation does not imply causation”

Actually, it does imply causation.

Correlation is not causation, but it is suggestive of cause.

You stoners (who are not conservative) can’t get much of anything straight.

Of course they are. Dope smoking and liberal insanity always go hand in hand.

I believe the post said: "Property Crime."

I take that to mean theft, vandalism.
