Time for GOP panic? Establishment worried Carson or Trump might win
Washington Post ^ | November 13, 2015 | Philip Rucker and Robert Costa

Posted on 11/13/2015 5:03:26 AM PST by HomerBohn

Less than three months before the kickoff Iowa caucuses, there is growing anxiety bordering on panic among Republican elites about the dominance and durability of Donald Trump and Ben Carson and widespread bewilderment over how to defeat them.

Party leaders and donors fear that nominating either man would have negative ramifications for the GOP ticket up and down the ballot, virtually ensuring a Hillary Rodham Clinton presidency and increasing the odds that the Senate falls into Democratic hands.

The party establishment is paralyzed. Big money is still on the sidelines. No consensus alternative to the outsiders has emerged from the pack of governors and senators running, and there is disagreement about how to prosecute the case against them. Recent focus groups of Trump supporters in Iowa and New Hampshire commissioned by rival campaigns revealed no silver bullet. In normal times, the way forward would be obvious. The wannabes would launch concerted campaigns, including television attack ads, against the front-runners. But even if the other candidates had a sense of what might work this year, it is unclear whether it would ultimately accrue to their benefit. Trump's counterpunches have been withering, while Carson's appeal to the base is spiritual, not merely political. If someone was able to do significant damage to them, thereâ€TMs no telling to whom their supporters would turn, if anyone.

We're tired of having to hold our nose in the election booth as we select between poison and poison lite. It's long past time we took control of our party and watched happily as it went on a stringent diet.

If a non-establishment gets past the Democrat Party, the Republican Party, the media and leftist vote riggers it will be an absolute miracle.

Dear GOPe,

Conservatives are sending you a message.

We don’t want your soft liberalism.

Jeb is Toast, and NOBODY is looking for a likeminded replacement.

So, sit back and let Cruz and the adult conservatives show you how to fight to win back America and the Constitution.

GOPe “moderates” are nothing more than intellectual parasites. They offer nothing sustaining or healthful to voters by attempting to draw from (excuse me, reach out to) the liberals.

The parasites, and their food source, have run out of ideas, and continue to make one bad decision after another. They still do not realize they have abdicated their leadership. The waters of conservatism are rising around these seditious parasites. Soon they will drown.

Regarding Romney, I, for one, will no longer vote for the jerk the RNC picks, henceforth, I will vote for the jerk of my own choosing.

B>If they want to win, the leaders of the politicians' race need to actively push Trump and Carson out of their way and find a way to attract their supporters.

Let me see if I got this. The GOPe needs to push the two candidates who poll best against Hillary OUT of the races so they can anoint a "Designated loser" to run against Hillary's Coronation an lose. Love how NO one in the DC machine has any intrest in discussing what Democrats are going to do running 3 old corrupt white DC insiders in a party that depends on turning out record numbers of minority voters to win.

If this comes to pass, we will have a candidate to vote for. Ron White has announced he is running as an Independent.

I think what people are looking for is a modern Hercules that can re-route the Potomac River thru Washington and wash the entire dung heap out into the Chesapeake.

The GOPe should be afraid because not one of their candidates is going to win the election, and we rubes are well aware of the silly games they're going to try and play.

You laughed at the Tea Party, well payback is a M#$%*)(f))%g B&^0%H.

OMG That’s right - after not electing Romney last time round they expect us to do so this time. Insanity tripled. Hey guys, swap Romney with Howdy Doody and you might see positive results. Like 2 for the price of one - Howdy Doody and Uncle Bob replacing o-puppet and ValJar

From the brains of spaghetti our GOP-e speaks with forked tongue ready to eat our lunch...again.

The Washington POSt will continue to support anyone who presents even the remotest threat to Trump’s run. It is clear that for this election cycle, the Left/Socialist Democrat Party, et al. has defined “defeat” as Donald Trump winning the Republican Party nomination. (For that matter, the GOPEs have adopted the same definition for “defeat”. And both the GOPEs and the Socialist Democrats are correct — Trump as the nominee is a huge defeat for both.)

The 'party leaders' are not worrying about Trump losing to hildabutchbitch, the are worried that Trump will win in a landslide, and then the crap will hit the fan.

The last thing the gope wants is Trump & Cruz closing down gummint agencies, killing off thousands of K-Street lobbyist jobs, looking at the corruption and graft, building a wall, deporting ILLEGALS, re-negotiating trade deals that provide 'juice' for them, changing the corrupt tax structure, and God Forbid, 'MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN'.
