The New Strategy for Dealing with Trump: He Just Doesn't Exist
self | 11/11/2015 | LS

Posted on 11/11/2015 2:48:50 PM PST by LS

As many of you know, many months ago I sensed that Donald Trump might be a political force, and I began working on a book about the campaign, mostly focused on Trump. If indeed he continues to lead and wins the nomination (let alone the election), I'll be ready to go to a publisher.

The point is, I try to follow Trump-related stuff closely, both pro- and anti-. Last night I sensed a new strategy in dealing with Trump: Ignore him. Now, it's true that he got a lot of air time. By one account he still barely led Rubio, Cruz, and Kasich. But judging by Freeper comments there was a level of surprise that they seemed to be freezing him out as much as they did Cruz in the first debate.

I thought little of this until watching "The Five" tonight. Admittedly, except for (sometimes) Eric Bolling, "The Five" are notorious Trump haters. Dana Perrino and Greg Guttfeld especially are obvious in their hostility. Often (unfortunately) Juan Williams is one of the few actually pointing out what is happening in Trump's rallies and his continued lead in the polls.

So, I expected more vitriol tonight, except . . . . nothing. I tuned in about 10 minutes into the show. Perhaps all they did prior to that time was talk Trump, but from that point on, they didn't even mention his name. I don't think it came up, even in passing or by comparison, once. According to "The Five," Jindal was good, Christie was "presidential," Bush was good, Rubio was great, Paul made good points, even Carson was good. . . . but not a word about Trump.

We'll see if this continues, or, perhaps, if it's only on Fox. But I sense the new strategy at least on Fox is to pretend The Donald is the invisible man.

It’s a hilarious strategy! Won’t work,,but it’s fun to watch the media pretend they aren’t losing their relevance!

Loving it!

Good evening.

I appreciate your opinion. Methinks the campaigns understand that Trump is a player and a danger.

You ignore an enemy at your own peril Sun Tzu has a whole chapter on Spies in his book The Art of War.

If you ignore Trump, you must be able to gather intelligence about his campaign. Otherwise you may one day wake up with your throat cut.

Metaphorically speaking of course.

The Fox network is the propaganda arm of the GOP-e. And you are quite correct- they want to marginalize the candidates that the ones paying the bills want marginalized.

The words came down from the top, “I am issuing an executive order that ALL media completely ignore Trump so he will do away”....

Well, its not going to fly. Trump is in this for the long haul and if necessary will buy up those media rats dens and fire all of them.

Most of us are noticing that. Of course this would not be the first time the media decided to ignore a story.

Maybe they think they will force him in to having to spend money for attention.

I thought he referred to his Jewishness on the show once?

I noticed on most of the thread here on FR after the latest debate that TRUMP was barely mentioned in the source articles.

Ah, YEAH. Attention has been on the slide since sometime in October. They had been laying in wait for splashy "gotcha" moments to pile on and take him out with, but have evidently realized the "gotcha" was on them since they were giving him free face time. Had to rethink that strategy.

I guess this is the new tact to get rid of Trump.

Noticed it, too.

The funny thing is, so far, Trump hasn’t needed Fox. I know I certainly haven’t missed Fox...at home or at our office.

Trump can generate ratings like no other candidate can, be it our side or Hellary (SNL).

I think Trump played it cool, last night. Did exactly what he set out to do....get his excellent points in, when possible, and then sit back and let the others quibble, or whatever.

He didn’t lose any supporters, last night and may have gained a few. Especially with KaSick making an absolute a$$ of himself and Jeb! just being a doofus.

Networks know that Trump = ratings. Rupert’s rolling the dice on ignoring Trump. They lose more and more credibility, by the day, with their pro-Rubio push, in my book.

As Trump had noted awhile back, he is getting air time because he is helping advertisers to sell their products.

I don’t watch FOX anymore but it would not surprise me if that is their tactic.

I’ve been watching Morning Joe, instead of Fox, and they interviewed Trump and his two sons this morning.

Mika said they are pushing Rubio today and she hopes they stick with it because Hillary would smash Rubio.

I would have to agree.

Yep, exactly.

It’s amazing to me the GOP hand-puppet pundits who pretended to seriously review the debate either without mention of Trump or with only a perfunctory mention of him in paragraph 17.

Clowns.

I may be remembering incorrectly, but I think I heard that The Donald will be on Bill O’Reilly tonight.

It’s obvious! If the talking heads huddle, they offer up Cruz or Rubio as nominee, even Fiorina but NEVER the frontrunner, never Trump.

Shame on our press, used to be free and objective.
